I say Cardinals in 7 games.
And Texas doesn't have belief? They had a better record than the Cards in September. It took them less playoff games to reach the World Series. They have been to back-to-back World Series for cryin' out loud.

St. Louis has had to play "playoff" baseball longer because they are a worse team.

St. Louis may win this series, but it won't be because of some absurd notion of "belief". It'll be because the better team doesn't always win, which is especially true in Baseball.

I wish Texas was given the breaks that St. Louis was. Atlanta giving them a playoff birth. Bud Selig giving them home field advantage. Neither of which they really deserved.

That was a fair ball. A ball can go "foul" as long as it is back inside the lines when touched or crossing the base. It was clearly fair as it crossed first base...fair ball.

Tony LaRussa, taking the fun out of baseball for 33 years.

Seriously, his overmanaging is so annoying. Pitchers come in for one batter, pitchers who are cruising still get taken out. Look at the eighth. Dotel easily gets two outs but then gets pulled. If Rhodes doesn't get one out, Motte comes in. Let your pitchers pitch already. Five ptchers for three shutout innings. What a joke.

I feel the need to apologize for my anti-St. Louis rant from this morning. I'm a life-long Cubs fan and my early-morning grumpiness combined with my dislike of the Cards to result in me posting out of pure emotion.

I really try to avoid doing that when it comes to Sports.

So when is the apology coming from the Boston media and owner?

Sure two beer swilling teams choked in september but alcohol fueled Tampa surged into the playoffs and Texas is in the World Series. Phillies had the best record. How about just the general nearly half the teams allow it then.

Francona really got screwed over. That's what happens when lovable losers turn into the Yankees and are suddenly expected to win with high priced talent each year.

Don't hold your breath.

IMO, the team expected to make the playoffs and so they didn't take the regular season very seriously. They were able to get themselves back on track after the disappointing start, but weren't able to turn it on again late. IDK if the drinking played a part in that, but my general impression is that by the time they realized that their position was becoming desperate they were so far behind the eight ball, in terms of their conditioning and preparation, that they weren't able to make the necessary changes. The atmosphere in the clubhouse was certainly part of the problem.

As for Francona, only one player, Pedroia, has come out and defended him. That says as much about Francona as it does the players. He protected them for eight seasons, and when the end came they didn't have his back. It's quite disappointing, really.

So, out of the last 9 World Series champions:

6 of 9 allow beer
3 of 9 do not allow beer

Bottoms up! This is clear evidence that beer in the clubhouse = more championships. Of course the mainstream media will probably just ignore it and still blame beer in the clubhouse for teams folding late in the season.

Funny thing is the Rangers allow it but don't they usually not drink (even champagne) in the clubhouse out of respect for Josh Hamilton?

That pitching staff was just amazing last year. Cardinals do not have the pitching to shut down Texas for a whole series. I'm sticking with my prediction.

Wilbon just ripped the infa-red technology used in the game and said to just stick to the superior technicolor they use for broadcasts

Swing and a miss Wilbon

Texas's offense in the Series is looking a lot like last year's.

What a disaster for the Cards. Terrible fielding in the 9th allowing the runner to 2nd. Tie game with 1 out.

I'm voting for the suicide squeeze play. Just the right amount of excitement for the WS.
