Dodgers are sure making this ****ing harder than it should be. We've been on this 1 clinching game it seems like forever! If they lose tonight it should make for one hell of a game Sunday to which I'm going!

FINALLY!!! DOdgers clinched NL West tonight!! Kershaw showed good signs with 10ks. Hope he steps it up like this in the playoffs

I can't believe the Tigers have only won 10 of their last 25 games and now find themselves tied for 1st on the final day of regular season play... I'm hoping either both them and the Twins either win or lose so they can settle it on Tuesday... Those 1 game winner advances/loser goes home playoffs are the best...

I agree, and I'm glad MLB changed the rule for who gets home field from the stupid coin flip to head-to-head. Why would you flip a coin to determine who gets home field when they have played each other numerous times? The Twins got screwed last year when the White Sox won the coin flip and got the home game despite the Twins winning the season series.

Anyone watching the Yankees game? A-rod hit two homers in the same inning bringing in 7 rbi's which is an AL record. Last game of the year put his rbi's past 100. A great milestone considering he missed over 20 games this year.

They better bring this momentum to the playoffs and Fall Classic.

I'm going to the Twins but who knows lol. The Yankees swept the Twins all year so I'm all for a Twins/Yankees ALDS!

The only argument against head-to-head seems to be if one team jumped out to an early series lead in April, but lost the most recent games, it seems mean to penalize the streaking team.

But at the same time, doing it that way makes teams feel that the entire season counts, not just what happens at the end.

A coin flip was definitely a stupid idea.

Anyone catch the Yankee game today?

A-Rod entered the 6th inning with 28 HRs and 93 RBIs. By the end of the inning he had 30 HRs and 100 RBIs, thanks to a 3-run HR and a grand slam... in the same inning.

I was scanning through Sportsline, and came across this interesting (if you're a Yankee) info:

Andy Pettitte turned down a guaranteed $10 million contract on the off-season, and instead working out an incentive-based contract that could be worth up to $12 million.

Now that the season is over, he ended up earning $10.5 of the 12 million.

$5.5 million, base salary
$3.0 million, for pitching 190+ innings
$2.0 million, for remaining on the active roster the entire season
-----------------------
$10.5 million, total

The $1.5 million he missed out on were for innings he didn't get up to ($750k for 200+ innings, and another $750k for 210+ innings).

I'm surprised that he opted for the incentive-based contract, considering it was very easy for him to earn less than the $10m guaranteed that he was originally offered, but I'm glad he took it.

I actually wish all contracts were required to be incentive-based, but I'm sure the MLBPA wouldn't agree to it.
