I hope he doesn't sign with one of the Brewers' rivals. Respect the rivalry or have everything good that he did in Milwaukee be flushed down the toilet. If he signs with the Cubs, the Brewer fans will hate him for it.

How many Red Sox players have gone to the Yankees and vice versa? Just saying...

It's crazy...THEY DON'T GET IT. Bill Cowher said he'd NEVER take the Browns coaching job because of the Browns/Steelers rivalry and as a Browns fan I get and respect his decision. I wish more athletes would adhere to "The Chin's" way of thinking on this matter.

2009: 13-10, 3.84 ERA

He's won more than 16 games only once and his ERA <3.50 only twice in his 12 seasons. I know there aren't many good starters available this offseason but I don't see how this guy is worth anywhere close to the nearly $15 mill/year he's getting.
They're paying for names to put butts in the seats. They could have gotten the same level of production without the big name for half that price.

Da Coach Mike Ditka once said there is no loyalty in sports. Unfortunately that is the truth.

A few. The Red Sox/Yankees rivalry is really between the fans. During the 70's, it was a different story. Players from those teams actually hated each other.

ESPN is reporting the Pujols signing now too. As usual they don't credit the original reporter even though it was reported 15 minutes earlier by Tim Brown.

Money talks. How do you pass up A-Rod level money?

The Angels will be paying three players 64 million dollars next season. Vernon Wells (there's no way he's going to opt out of the last three years at 21 million per), Torii Hunter at 18 million and Pujols at $25 million. Guess they wanted to do their best Yankees inpersonation.

They may have overpaid slightly, but not by a lot. You have to remember that he has made thirty or more starts and pitched 200+ innings in each of the past 11 seasons. That consistency and durability is not common. For instance, CJ Wilson, who is just one year younger has only had two such seasons.

I wonder if its got allot of weird NFL type bonuses like pitch 30 innings.

I don't really get it. He's already making more money than he possibly ever spend. Why not stay in St. Louis where he's the beloved hero. It seems like these players always chase the money.

Financial Figures

Quote:
Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports that Albert Pujols will sign a 10-year deal with the Angels worth between $250-260 million.
That certainly qualifies as a shocker. Everyone was talking about the Marlins as the biggest threat to sign the three-time NL MVP away from St. Louis just 24 hours ago, but the Angels came out of nowhere with what will be one of the biggest contracts in MLB history. Until now, Alex Rodriguez was the only player to secure a contract worth more than $200 million. According to Brown, Pujols made up his mind Thursday morning and the contract includes a full no-trade clause. Stay tuned for more details.

Tigers made a signing

Quote:
MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports that the Tigers and Octavio Dotel have agreed to a one-year deal with an option for 2013.
Exact terms aren't yet available. Dotel, 38, posted a 3.50 ERA and 62/17 K/BB ratio over 54 innings this past season between the Blue Jays and Cardinals. He'll function as a set-up man for Jose Valverde in 2012.

Probably because he felt insulted in St Louis idk, things between him and St Louis seemed kinda weird way back during the season when he broke off Negotiations before the season started.

I can see a lot of advantages to the Angels in addition to money though. For one he'll be in the AL so later in the deal he'll have the option of becoming a DH if his body starts to break down, and there will also be games where he could DH rather than play the field. In addition a lot of players don't like playing in the cold and now he'll mainly be playing warm weather games in April/October rather than cold games in St. Louis. In addition there's a lot more to do in LA/Anaheim than in St. Louis and a lot more commercial/endorsement opportunities that come with playing in a big market.

There's never enough money to spend. Antoine Walker made 110 million in the NBA yet had debts of 12.7 million. Tyson reportedly made 400 million over his career but he's broke.

ESPN Dallas(radio) is reporting that CJ Wilson's offer from the Angels is 5 years 75 million. And can not understand why the Rangers wouldn't match that.
