I agree, I do think Tyson had allot stolen from him, I give him the benefit of the doubt on allot of that because when Cus D'Amato died the sharks got a wiff of blood and came running, and he really wasn't prepared to deal or understand all that.

According to TSN, it's a 10 year 254 million dollar deal. Slightly more than A-Rod's first deal but still lower than A-Rod's retarded 10 year 275 million contract that his agent described as adjusting for inflation.

http://tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=382232

There's a report that the Marlins final offer was a 10 year 275 million dollar deal. I suspect they just tried to drive the price up like the Yankees did with Carl Crawford.

I don't think so. The Cardinals have always reloaded throughout the history of the team.

You can't replace a player of Puljos's caliber. This will set them back years. If the NL had the DH, this might have made a difference. I also heard that Puljos had a charity dinner towards the end of the regular season and none of his team mates showed up. That might have played a role too.

I knew CJ Wilson wasn't going to get 100 million.

Your right about that. Hopefully with Pujols leaving, it wont hurt us completely.

Now I am wondering what the Cards will do.

(A)Go after Fielder so the Cards will have a permanent 1st baseman for x-amount of years.
(B)Move Berkman to first. Then worry about finding a permanent one at the trade deadline(or next offseason).

Good day to be an Angels fan We going to freaking rock it next year (hopefully).
Sure does bring Morales into question, whether he will even return next season or not, or maybe the Angels starting to give up on him.

And at least Pujols is gone from the NL. It's one thing losing a superstar to a rival like the Cubs, but not as bad losing it to a team you almost never compete against.

Boxing is notorious for being run by sharks (ex. Don King). But all in all he's right. It doesn't matter if star athletes make $1 mill or $500 mill throughout their career, I'll bet the rate of bankruptcy would change much at all between those numbers. In fact it seems like the rate of players going bankrupt is higher today than it was back in the pre-80's era when there were practically no million dollar players. These guys today spend money like they're going to get million dollar paychecks till they die, when in reality careers often last only a few good years.

According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Rockies' willingness to offer a three-year deal has made them a "serious suitor" for free agent outfielder Michael Cuddyer.
Cuddyer is currently considering a three-year, $25 million offer to return to the Twins. The market for him isn't nearly as strong as many suspected it would be, so the Rockies may be their biggest competition right now. If he signs elsewhere, the Twins would receive two draft picks as compensation. Cuddyer, who turns 33 in March, batted .284/.346/.459 with 20 home runs and 70 RBI over 584 plate appearances this past year for Minnesota.

That is an excellent point.

BTW: This is the Poll on ESPN SportsNation

Does Albert Pujols leaving the Cardinals negatively affect his legacy?

YES 27.5%
NO 53.5%
To soon to tell 19.0%

Same for the Angels. They have good pitching but crap offense (even with Albert added).

Even though he's just signed with the Angels, CJ Wilson just said that he wanted to be a Yankee but we never had any interest (in all honesty, he's not a #1 but wanted #1 money which is why he only ended up with 77.5 million).

The Angels now have:

Starting staff:
Jared Weaver
Ervin Santana
Dan Haren
C.J. Wlson

All four of those starters had an ERA <3.40 in 2011.

They have a solid closer in Jordan Walden.

1B - Pujols
2B - Kendrick
SS - Aybar
3B - Trumbo
C - Mathis
OF - Wells, Bourjos, Hunter
DH - Abreu

I'm sorry but that team is right up there with Philly and Boston (if they can stay healthy)

The Angels went 86-76 without Pujols and Wilson. I doubt they're any worse than 95-100 wins now.

Yankees just seem to be settling in at around $200 mill per year payroll. Between around 2000-2005 their payroll skyrocketed. But since 2005 their payroll has become stagnant, hovering between $190-205 mill every year.

If the spending trends continue it appears a few other teams might be on par with the Yankees in payroll within a few years. Depends on whether the younger Steinbrenners decide to break the bank in the future. They might have to considering how much teams like LA, Philly and Boston are spending nowadays. Funny thing is I rarely hear people complaining about the Yankees spending anymore. It's like Philly and Boston, and now the Angels replaced them as the "evil empire."

Boston has a ton of holes right now.
