The point is we'll never know what happened. What we do know is that the chain of protocol when it comes to handling his sample was broken - or at least how the arbitrator saw it. MLB cannot have a legitimate claim against him if the process was done out of order, incorrectly, or whatever it was. It's called due process; and if some guy didn't do his job correctly and follow procedure, Braun has every right to challenge it, because just as you never know if Braun cheated, you'll never know if the specimen collector did something with the sample. But all we have here are hypotheticals. Again, you'll never know if he cheated. Only one man knows if he cheated (Braun). He has never failed a drug test before and his numbers have always been consistent. His power numbers haven't fluctuated. I'll eat my words if he ever tests positive again, but seriously, look at the facts.

Yep, cleared on a technicality and nothing more. He juiced but lucked out.

The simple fact is once the sample wasn't delivered to FedEx within 24 hours as agreed to in the drug testing agreement the sample should have been thrown out and never been tested. I'm a Cubs fan and would have loved for Braun to miss 50 games but there was too many problems with the testing procedure for it to be valid in my opinion.

So samples can create false results if not mailed within 24 hours? If not he did get off via technicality and will still face the public humiliation he deserves.

The whole thing hinges on the 2 days the sample sat @ the collectors home….no one knows if he did something to the sample or if braun was juicing.

There are 2 people that know the truth here…..Braun and the part time employee that couldn’t’ do his job right.

Braun offered a DNA test to prove he was clean but MLB turned him down (heard that on ESPN this morning). Braun has offered to do whatever it would take to clear his name....yet people choose to see the negative instead.

If the guy wanted to somehow sabotage the sample for whatever reason I doubt he would have taken it home and not mailed it on time. If a person is going to sabotage (if that's even possible) a drug test he probably could have done it and mailed it on time so no red flags went up. And don't they seal those things anyway?

Of course Braun will say he'll do whatever to clear his name because he obviously stopped doping after flunking the test. Either there was some massive conspiracy against Braun or he flunked the test badly and lucked out thanks to an incompetant employee. My guess is the latter. This isn't quite the Chewbacca defense but it's close and it worked for Braun and his high priced legal team.

I heard a reporter from SI on Dan Patrick's show this morning and he said that a DNA test wouldn't have proved anything and would have been meaningless. Braun is speaking right now and he said there have been a lot of false reports and that he's never had an STD.

If braun was doping….and he could’ve been, who knows….i’d think his #’s would’ve been drastically different from when he was to when he wasn’t.

Like it’s been reported, he’s passed what…23 other drug tests in the past??

The guy hasn’t had any stand out years from 1 to the next like sosa or mcgwire did or any freakish increase in HR’s or RBI’s during his career.

And wasn’t the test that came back positive ridiculously high?? Like so high that something was obviously off?? I heard/read that as well.

It's not heard of. People using PED's are constantly changing what they take and what they use as masking agents to beat tests. Plenty of guys pass test after test until they slip up and take the wrong thing and get nailed for it. Passing prior tests is essentially meaningless.

bottom line is this....someone f'd up w/the handling of the test and as a result, braun either a: got off or b:got some redemption.

chastise him all you want, he was cleared.

Reports have indicated that Morneau did show some optimism during Friday's interview, but that he was also realistic in that he's not sure what to expect going forward. We're all rooting for him, but he's obviously a huge question mark for the 2012 campaign.

This is ****ing ridiculous. There was evidence of elevated levels of SYNTHETIC testosterone. Then it all of a sudden gets overturned and Braun just states that the system was proven wrong and he was right, but doesn't even mention how or why he thought the synthetic levels got into his system. The one thing I don't understand about all of this is how MLB is upset about this decision, yet his 50 game suspension is gone. MLB is his employer and the main boss. How can they not just give him a 50 game suspension anyways? This whole thing is just stupid.


Oh, and it wasn't just one failed test. There was actually two completely different tests that were both failed. His ratio of synthetic to regular levels was 20 to 1. Normal humans are 1 to 1. TWENTY TO ****ING ONE. What a joke. Basically just got out of it with the later shipping date and his pretty little good good image. Might as well just get rid of this testing policy. It's probably the biggest joke in this whole scenario.
