Jose Canseco bounced from Mexican league after admitting to using testosterone

Quote:
Once a juicer, always a juicer?

That may indeed be the case as Jose Canseco's attempt to play in the Mexican Baseball League ended on Wednesday after league officials said the former star admitted to taking a banned substance without a prescription.

League president Plinio Escalante told ESPN Deportes that the banned substance was testosterone and that Canseco refused to take a drug test.
Here's what Canseco had to say....

Quote:
"How can I test positive when I never took any test don't believe everything the media tells you.the truth always comes out I am not using any illegal substanced," he wrote from @josecanseco. "All I am on is prescription medication for low testosterone .legal and very important for my health."
Please just go away already

He actually tried a comeback? He has to be approaching 50 by now. Even with roods that's a reach.

As much of a slimeball as Canseco is I still respect him more than most players. At least Canseco came clean about the roids (even if it was for profit) and pretty much everything he's said in his books turned out to be proven true.

MLB is going to let the Astros wear the Colt .45s jerseys with the pistol on the jersey.

They damn well better. I'm a liberal but even I hate the sort of political correctness we were seeing with stuff like this and the Washington Bullets changing their team name. That Colt jersey is one of my all-time favorites.

Agreed...political correctness often equates to boring, cookie cutter cliches and a lack of b*lls.

Yankees signed LHP Andy Pettitte to a minor league contract.
It's stunning news for a guy that didn't pitch at all in 2011 and said in the middle of last season that he was "absolutely loving being home." But, Jack Curry of the YES Network reports that Pettitte admitted three weeks ago that he was considering a comeback and has now decided to follow through with it. He'll earn $2.5 million and will work his way up through the minors initially before eventually likely bumping either Phil Hughes or Freddy Garcia from the rotation. We would guess that Hughes will probably be shifted to the bullpen since he has experience there, but the Yanks haven't revealed their concrete plans.

He just adds to the average age of that starting rotation. This team is just flatout old.

Not sure what the plan for Joba was, but it's changed as he suffered an open dislocation of his right ankle yesterday while playing with his son. Per the link:

Quote:
"As we understand, they were at, they have these kids places where you jump on trampolines and stuff like that," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Friday.

Chamberlain had surgery on Thursday night at St. Joseph's Hospital, and is expected to remain in the hospital for several days for the injury, which resulted in an open flesh wound around the ankle.

Manager Joe Girardi was at the hospital early Friday morning, while Cashman planned to visit in the afternoon.

There was no timetable for Chamberlain's return, but Cashman labeled it a "significant injury." Chamberlain was already working his way back from Tommy John surgery last June.

What an idiot. Jenks sounds like a real life Kenny Powers. So he admitted to being at a strip club but claimed his impaired state was due to muscle relaxers. Guess you have to give the guy credit for honesty though. Good luck getting that Red Sox clubhouse in order Coach Valentine. It'll take more than banning drinking in the clubhouse to get things in order.

Jenks charged with 5 misdemeanors

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Bobby Jenks was arrested early Friday morning and charged with five misdemeanors, including driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property, according to the Lee County, Fla., sheriff's office.

The police report indicated Jenks was booked at 3:43 a.m. and released on $4,250 bail at 8:45 a.m. Jenks also was charged with three counts of DUI and damage to property. He is tentatively scheduled to appear in court on April 9.

According to the police report, Jenks was pulled over in his white Mercedes SUV around 11:50 p.m. Thursday because he was driving erratically. When asked by the officer why he was all over the road, Jenks said it was because he "took too many muscle relaxers," according to the report. The officer observed Jenks was "shaking uncontrollably and had a difficult time speaking" and described him as "unsteady on his feet" with glassy eyes, dilated pupils and slurred speech.

The 31-year-old Jenks agreed to a field sobriety test but said, according to the report, "I'm going to fail it." During the test, Jenks indicated he couldn't complete it because he was "messed up." Jenks was then arrested, according to the report.

Before the sobriety test, Jenks was asked whether he had taken anything other than muscle relaxers and replied, according to the report, "I'm going to be honest with you, I was just leaving Babes because I hit a car. I just had to get out of there."

Babes is an adult-entertainment club near where Jenks was pulled over.

A bouncer at Babes told police that a white Mercedes SUV pulled into the club's parking lot at around 11:45 p.m. and struck a parked truck. The man confronted the driver, who according to the police report matched Jenks' description, and asked him to either park the car or leave. The bouncer, who also said he'd call the driver a cab, told police the driver then hit another vehicle before eventually pulling away.

Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine did not provide any further information in his daily meeting with the media Friday morning, saying he learned of the arrest about 10 minutes before talking with reporters. The Red Sox later released the following statement:

"We have been made aware of a situation regarding Bobby Jenks and take such matters seriously. We are gathering information and will refrain from further comment at this time."
