The trend of lower scoring in MLB seem to be continuing. After peaking at 5.1 RPG in 2000 the average RPG dropped to 4.3 in 2011 and slightly over 4.0 this year. I'm glad to see this happen. No doubt a result of the decline of PED's in the game. They'll never get rid of them completely, but there has been a lot of progress.

They've played the Padres and Pirates, 2 teams that each lost 90 games last year. They certainly could be a good team this year but I'm not sold on them yet.

Nice to see them put it all together yeasterday. Garza was Great and they put up 8 on Greinke. Hopefully they'll take at least 2 out of 3 in St. Louis this weekend and get this season rolling.

It will be interesting to see how Samardzija follows up his great first start, which would have been a complete game 3 hitter with 1 run given up if Castro hadn't had an error with 2 outs in the 9th followed by Samardzija giving up a 2 run homer (both runs unearned). I still have very low hopes for the season but it was nice yesterday to see the Cubs offense go up against a quality pitcher.

Haha Thats why its even more important to take those easy wins and get off to a good start. Set up the tempo for the season...

Harang actually ended up striking out 9 consecutive batters in the first 3 innings, after giving up a single to lead off the game. That is a Dodgers franchise record, beating Johnny Podres' 8 consecutive k's in 1962. The MLB record is 10 in a row, set by Tom Seaver in 1970.

More importantly, the Dodgers are 7-1 (thanks to a walk-off walk by Ethier) and still have the best record in baseball!
