I'm sure it would have lasted longer. But regardless he clearly had some issues with his temperament. It was inevitable. Funny thing is his girlfriend is black.

I'm going to miss Chipper. He's really the last link left to my childhood years (late 80's-late 90's) of growing up watching the Braves. Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Chipper, etc. They'll all be gone.

Maybe the dumbest thing I ever did when it comes to sports was when I was about 12 years old and decided NOT to get anything autographed by Chipper at a baseball card show where he was signing autographs for free. At the time I had barely heard of him as he was still a minor leaguer and didn't feel like waiting in line.

He was from New Jersey and teams don't trust the players coming out of high school from the North East. The competition is much thinner up north where you can only play baseball about six months a year, as opposed to places like California where the top prep talent will play as many as 150 games a year in traveling leagues. If you want your kid to be noticed by scouts, live in Florida, Texas or California.

Georgia is high on the list as well. East Cobb alone is higher than most states.

Yep, and the area around Alpharetta as well (e.g., Northview/Centennial/Alpharetta/Chattahooche High Schools).

Hey, I have an idea, how about the league which wins the Homerun Derby starts the All-star game with a 3-0 lead? After all, the Homerun Derby doesn't "Count" so isn't as popular as it should be.
