Jair Jurrjens' ERA is up to 7.04 after today's latest shelling. What a champ.

Amazing that last year he had an ERA in the low 2's and was a potential all-star game starter.

He's lost significant velocity since that point. Last year it was leg injuries but no one knows what happened this year to cause the loss. We got some good years out of him but it was rumored the Braves had been heavily shopping him for the past year. They must have known he was finished.

It's been awhile but it's a fun time right now being an A's fan. I hope they can keep it up for the rest of the season.

Braves are apparently close to making a deal for Dempster. Could be as early as this afternoon.

EDIT: Braves beat writer says it's done:

Love Dempster, and I wish him the best. He was a great player for the Cubs and never complained despite how crappy the teams had become. Hopefully the Cubs were able to get some good young pitching prospects for him.

Sounds like it may be straight up for Randall Delgado. I wouldn't expect the Braves to offer much for 2 months.

Just looked up Delgado and I'd be happy to receive him. He's young and looks like someone that could help the Cubs in a couple years. The Cubs farm system is pretty bare for pitchers so it's nice to get some young talent in there.

We just got Ichiro (according to YES network's Jack Curry). This will easily be the blockbuster trade of the season.

UPDATE: the trade has been confirmed by the M's & Yankees on twitter.

The Yankees will only pay $2 million of his salary for this year(the M's' will pay the rest). Easily a low risk/high reward situation.

Yes... i think he'll fit really nice, but lets not forget this isn't 2008 Ichiro.

What is it with the Yanks picking up over the hill veterans? The got A Roid, Chavez, now Ichiro.

Either way they're not winning nothing with their starting pitching the way it is.

Mark McLemore (who played with the Rangers from '95-'99 and Mariners from '00-'03) regularly joins the Rangers broadcasts in the sixth or seventh inning has said that Ichiro speaks English well and used to joke around in the clubhouse and play practical jokes with the team. That was 10 years ago when they played so you know he has to speak even better English now.

Indeed my friend. Once Gose, D, Arnaud, and Hechavarria are fixtures in the Jays lineup then we will definitely be the beast in the AL East. The Jays have the best prospect pool in all of baseball, just need time for them to develop.

Ichiro speaks fluent English but has always used a translator to keep a certain distance from the fans. He's likely done as anything but a part-time player, though the Yankees love building their brand in Japan.
