Agree on the last three but Kuroda?? He's nothing major. It's a 1 yr 10 million dollar deal. That's not major for us. The dollar total means nothing because we ALWAYS have to over pay no matter who it is because the agents know they can get it.

Well he sure doesn't let everyone know! If you're using a translator for you goodbye to seattle fans, I don't know when you would speak english lol.

Wow that's what they spent for him....craziness.

...and to further prove my point. Of the top 25 highest salaries this year, the Yankees have 3 players in the top 5.

A-Roid at #1 with 30 million, Texeira at #4 with 23,125,000, and Sabathia at #5 with 23 million.

Heck I wouldn't pay A-Rod 5 million a year...he's over the hill and his game is greatly declining especially his power numbers.

The fact that it's "not major for [you]" just proves the point.

Thanks Capt. Obvious. Anyone with half a brain could articulate such an opinion. Doesn't detract from the fact that the Yanks still have the best record in the majors, and not all of our talent are from other teams. Nova, Jeter, Mo, Cano, Gardner, and Robertson are all "home grown" talent. Everyone team has players that are not from their farm system. And who cares where the wins and championships come from as long as they come. Ask any Mets, Cubs, Tigers, or Rangers fan.

And what is that exactly? That our owners actually care about the team and attempt to put the best product on the field every year?

That your owners have slowly ruined baseball in many markets. There are teams that can't sign free agents because the Yankees upped the ante, and the Red Sox, Mets, Angels, etc have followed. So teams that have corporate owners or are in lower income markets can't even think of competing for free agents.

Cano and Jeter are like the only home grown talents on your team worth mentioning...that and Mo of course but he's in shambles now. Wow 3 players that's impressive.

Wing....your starting staff and batting lineup is OLD. Roll your eyes all you want. With 4 of our 5 starters on the DL, 3 guys out of the bullpen on the DL and the BIG HAMMER, "Joey Bats" on the DL, we're still a game over .500 and in the Wildcard race.

We probably have the best minor league system in the Majors and in 2 years you and the old goat Yanks won't get a sniff.

And what about the Pirates and Marlins who's owners just pocketed the money they got from revenue sharing instead of putting it towards their teams (and the Yankees pay the largest amount of revenue sharing)?

By comparison, the following Braves are all home-grown:

Brian McCann, Freddie Freeman, Andrelton Simmons, Chipper Jones, Martin Prado, Jason Heyward, Brandon Beachy, Tommy Hanson, Mike Minor, Craig Kimbrel, Eric O'Flaherty, Johnny Venters, Kris Medlan

Oh, they're definitely no better. I really think Miami should charge the owners with fraud or something over the entire stadium situation (telling the city they didn't have any money they could use for a stadium, and then spending a fortune on free agents as soon as it's completed).

Oh wait let's not forget Hughes, Joba, David Phelps, and Pettitte, but yeah sure let's go with what you're saying...

In fairness a lot of these smaller market owners are happy collecting their welfare, err... luxury tax money and not putting it back into their team. Seen this time and time again. Teams like the Pirates have been turning big profits for years and the deadbeat owners are too greedy to up their payroll to improve their shitty team. Big spending teams can be a problem but not all of the problem as so many believe.

He said homegrown "talent." The only one of those guys I'd label especially talented is Pettitte. Phelps is too early to say for sure. Hughes is ok, but his ERA has been over 4.00 every season except for 2009. Joba Chamberlain is average at best and very inconsistent.

But they do hurt teams like the Twins, Indians, Mariners. To a lesser extent, even the Braves (though their problems may be solved as soon as Liberty unloads them). Recently, the Rays and Royals as well.
