Yeah, arguing is stupid, so I see no reason to continue the back-and-forth. But to clarify, I thought I followed up one of my older posts, mentioning that the towels weren't even waving at that point.

I was looking at clips on YouTube and with the Dodgers down to their last strike, I think the fans were too dejected to swing towels around. So I think Holliday obviously couldn't have been baffled by them. But my point still stands that I think towels COULD be distracting.

And I still hate them, along with thundersticks (which I think the Cards were using last night... or some team was, I forgot).

The Angels/Red Sox game was fun to watch. I was kind of pulling for the Red Sox, just so the series would keep going, but the 8th and 9th innings were classic. I was a big Abreu fan from his time with the Yankees, so I was hoping he wouldn't be the one to end the game.

It's also weird to think that a couple years ago, the idea of intentionally walking someone in order to pitch to Vlad, would've seemed crazy.

I used to always think the idea of closing pitchers is overrated, but after the NYY/MIN game on Friday, and the BOS/LAA game earlier today, maybe it shows how important closers really are.

Boo. That'd be about as boring for me as the 2000 Subway Series was for the 49 states not named New York. I even found it pretty boring, because the Mets were a joke at the time (though the Clemens/Piazza thing was mildly amusing).

Another Subway Series in 2001 would've been fitting, or at least it seemed so at the time, but the Mets didn't uphold their end of the deal. Despite the Yankees losing to ARZ, I still consider the '01 WS as my favorite of the ones I remember watching (probably '92'ish through today). Games 4 and 5 of that series were unbelievable.

Triple post! Yeah!

I forgot to mention... did anyone else seem to notice Abreu smacking Figgins in the face after scoring?

I originally noticed it when they showed the replay, and I've seen the replay a few more times (including just now during the Yankees game). It's hard to tell, but it looks like Abreu is attempting to high five Figgins (who has his hands up in the air), but he misses, and Figgins' head kind of jerks backward, as if he got smacked in the face.

Edit: Here's video of it....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2aeX_rOfmw

Check out the replay they show, at the very end (like 47 or 48 seconds in, until the end). Looks like he missed the high-five.

Angels are a tough team...I'm excited for Friday. It may go to Game 6 though lol. I'm glad to see A-rod finally coming around.

Came across these pictures of Target Field, the next home of the Twins. I didn't realize the stadium was this far along... it looks like it's ready to be used.

And here's one of what the old Yankee Stadium is looking like these days:

I like it, now if the Vikings would grow some balls and play in the elements instead of a dome that would be good.

Another thing why the hell do Atlanta, St. Louis, Detroit, New Orleans need domes??? Same thing for the Tampa Bay Rays for that matter. At least the D-Backs and Cardinals have the excuse of over 100 degree weather.

You would think all the experts would take all this into consideration.
Well, in general the sports media usually gives all the attention to New York, Boston, L.A., and the Cubs so it's nice to hear about the other teams every now and again.
Yeah, playoffs are a different animal, but how exactly do you gauge and predict that when two teams play? Like most sports, baseball's postseason is all about matchups, who gets hot at the right time, and experience. The cards matched up well against the dodgers during the regular season and as far as playoff experience goes, i'd say the edge there goes to st. louis as well. Too bad we peaked in August. Oh well, i'll be rooting for the Dodgers to go all the way from here on out. I have a lot of respect for the organization despite the "manny thing."

Good to see the Yankees playing well. A-rod needs to keep this up but I think the key is the pitching. If they starters can give them a solid start then they will be tough to beat. I say Yankees in 6

And what the Rays play in a cold weather climate??? It's hot as hell in Tampa Bay. It's f'in 90 degrees right now in Orlando and it's the middle of October. Also the Rays did not have a new stadium built for them when they started. They took over the old Thunder Dome when the Tampa Bay Lightning used to play there. They've been trying to get a new stadium, but St. Petersburg doesn't want to pony up the cash for it.

I can see the Rays using a dome, when I lived in Florida it rained a lot. They'd probably end up with a bunch of rain delays and make-up games.

Anyway, that was a heck of a weekend for crappy Boston sports, time for an Avy change (c'mon Celts, help me forget!).

The Vikings would love to play in an outdoor stadium, but they aren't going to pay for it themselves. Minnesota is in serious jeopardy of losing the Vikings to Los Angeles if they don't get some legislation passed to build a new stadium. The Vikings lease with the Metrodome ends after the 2011 season and if there isn't a new stadium plan by then they will leave. It's not the best time to need a new stadium though with the huge budget deficits. I never understood why the Twins got their own stadium and University of Minnesota got their own stadium. Why not build another stadium to suit all of them, or at least a stadium for the Twins and Vikings to share?
