This sounds astonishing in this day and age: Braves have won 45 straight games when scoring 5+ runs. Only 2 other teams have ever done that... 1906 Cubs (51) and 1913 Giants (45).

1994 MLB final (strike shortened) standings:

Montreal Expos 74-40 (.649)
Atlanta Braves 68-46 (.596)

2012 current standings:

Washington Nationals 70-43 (.619)
Atlanta Braves 65-47 (.580)

The Montreal Expos and Washington Nationals are the same franchise. And the last time they had a really good team was 1994 when the two teams had nearly identical records as today.

No they are not. The Nationals un-retired the Expos numbers just to be sure they had no connection with the Expos. The Expos died in 2004.

It's still the same franchise.

The roster wasn't scrapped and started over when the team moved. The same players just relocated to Washington. There's more to a franchise than retired numbers. Call it what you want but it's the same team. The connection will always be there even if the franchise tries to disconnect from it's Expos days.
