Cliff Lee has looked great in these playoffs. Boston should have made a deal for him. The Phillies have a real chance to repeat as long their bullpen does not fail.

I'm curious to see how the Angels play the Yanks... I think the winner of that series is going to roll over everyone.

You have to have a tight bullpen to stop both the Angels and Yanks... not sure the Phils have that this year... remains to be seen though.

Yeah, I don't want to jinx anything, but I really think the winner of the ALCS is going to breeze through the World Series.

The Angels showed they're a team to be reckoned with. They may not have the power in the lineup that the Yankees have, but they have incredibly patient hitters, with good OBPs. If they get on base, they're very likely to start running.

A-Rod carried the Yankees through the Twins series, so if he cools off, the rest of the team needs to step up offensively.

Should be fun to watch, but it's annoying to have to sit here and wait a few days for the next round to start. Stupid sweeps.

That's pretty much the general mindset every year, though!

Damn playoffs and their Dodger day game! They want ratings yet they put west coast games at 1pm?? I might be able to go now since work is really strict on 2 week advance day off notice.

Yeah, I was surprised at how many people picked the Rays to win last year. Of ESPN's 14 "experts" 9 picked the Rays. Peter Gammons and Steve Phillips were among the rare few that picked the Phillies, meanwhile Tim Kurkijian and Buster Olney, among others, bought into the Rays hype.

Pedro Gomez is the only one who got it exactly right: Phillies in 5.
Jim Caple (who is he?) was the most wrong: Rays in 4.

If the Yankees and Dodgers make the World Series, and the Yankees win, it'd be great for 2 reasons.

1) Obviously, that the Yankees win

2) The Dodgers will move into a tie with the Yankees for most World Series losses.

Yankees are 26-13 in the 39 World Series' they've been to (a .667 winning %).

The Dodgers are 6-12 in the 18 they've been to (a .333 winning %).

What the hell is it with Yankee fans and statistics? If the Dodgers win it will be great for one reason. They won the World Series!

Man, Ryan Howard is clutch. After the Rockies went ahead 4-2 in the 8th inning I thought for sure they had the win. But Howard delivers again with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the 9th. This guy has got to be the best clutch hitter in the MLB.
I still think the Dodgers will beat the Phillies though they just have such a solid lineup with a deep bullpen. Jonathon Broxton is simply unhittable.
I say Dodgers over the Yankees in the World Series. Just watch it will happen.

Because baseball is a game of statistics.

Plus it's funny that the Dodgers lose 2/3 of the World Series they go to, and have the Yankees to thank for a lot of that.

Here's another statistic:

Before the rosters expanded, and teams were using a 25-man roster, 12 of the 25 players on the Yankees were home-grown talent.

That's more than any other AL team, and second only to the Diamondbacks, in all of MLB.

So what is it with all the non-Yankee fans and their "they just try to buy championships" attitude?

If we want an example of "buying" a World Series, look at the 2004 Red Sox. Only 1 person on that entire team was from their farm system (Trot Nixon), and the other 24 were acquired through trades or free agency.

Stats are fun.

Ya...it's been driving me nuts lol. The Angels are a very good team. I've been hearing a lot of Game 5 or Game 6 predictions. I'm going with Game 6..we'll see what happens.
