Maybe. But Braun also took PEDs and didn't get a suspension. So he'll always be Barry Bonds Jr to me.

Ha, he wishes. Bonds was a dozen levels above the next best player during his steroid fueled peak.

He was just a bit better than Pujols. Think about how many MVPs that guy would have if not for Bonds' cheating.

From 2001-2004, Bonds was A LOT better than Pujols. You may hate Bonds, but the stats don't lie. A 256 OPS+ over that span is a staggering number. An amazing 167 OPS+ by Pujols is peanuts by comparison.

In 723 less official at bats, Bonds hit 49 more homeruns (7.86 AB/HR)

.349 avg .559 obp and .809 slg%. Absurd.

Forget overall careers (where Bonds would clearly be better anyway), for that four year stretch, Bonds was untouchable.

I'm biased so i'm not really going to get into this argument, but it sure was DAMN entertaining during the McGwire, Sosa & Bonds Home run days...

Not that it isnt right now, that was just a different era, where almost everyone was juiced, pitchers and hitters alike...

You're right it was a really fun time to watch baseball. Those home run battles were E-P-I-C.

Anyone know what the web address was for Melky's fake dope website? I'm sure it's shut down but I'm sure someone caught some screen captures of it.

Just comparing HRs and OPS (which would have been much closer if Bonds had a normal number of BBs, but you know roids...) is ridiculous.

Pujols has Bonds beat in a number of other categories, including RBIs and Rs (and it's not even close).

Not to mention, one of those guys was in his first 4 years in the majors.

And of course you can't compare a 20+ year career to 12. But take the first 12 year of Bonds career (when he was a non-roiding HOF player) and compare them to Pujols. Pujols is WAY better.

The whole reason I used those numbers is because they are team independant. Runs and RBI's are overrated stats anyway.

Of course it was Pujols first four years. But that was the time frame we were talking about anyway.

I wouldn't say Pujols was way better in their first 12 years. Much more consistent sure, but I'd still take Bonds from 1990 on.

Any time you hear the phrase "Dream Team" brought up with regards to MLB you can safely assume it'll be a big fail. The 2011 Red Sox, Phillies of the past few years with their starting pitching and now the 2012 Angels. Rarely do these "super teams" live up to expectations.

You're crazy. Pujols has been a top-5 MVP vote-getter EVERY YEAR.

Don't forget all those Mets teams from the late 90s through the early 00s.
