If he's half as unlikable on the show as he was in MLB he son't last long. They should get Barry Bonds on there with him for some real drama.

Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda was arrested for DUI in Florida. His blood-alcohol level was .128 and .125 in two separate tests. Pineda was traded from Seattle to New York in the offseason but has missed the entire season after shoulder surgery.

im shocked they are saying they wont give him a fine or additional number of games....what an idiot...he's not a superstar...he doesnt have a legacy to uphold...why go through the trouble of all this???

The MLB Player's Union is too powerful for Selig to try to give him any additional punishment. If this happened in the NFL Roger Goodell probably would have suspended him another year but the MLB CBA doesn't give the commissioner much power to do anything other than what the CBA says he can do.

I'm pretty sure Griffey, Jeter, and possibly Chipper are some of the best players of that era who has not taken PED's.

What Fete said. Unfortunately the MLB commissioner has far less latitude to imose punishment than other sports, namely Goodell and the NFL. Goodell would hammer a player for pulling the nonsense Cabrera has. But Selig probably can't do a thing beyond the 50 games, barring the legal system hitting Cabrera. And I really have no idea if what he and his people did violates the law. Probably a decent chance it does since the various authorities are investigating the hoax.

The article is exactly right, MLB doesn't want to catch too many cheaters. They mostly want to hope a few high-profile cases will be able to persuade the rest of the players to not cheat.

On Mike and Mike this morning Jayson Stark was on and he was saying that the rumor is that Clemens is pitching for this minor league team in an attempt to get back to the big leagues this year and pitch a game or 2. Clemens is scheduled to be on the Hall of Fame ballot this year for the first time and right now he's got no chance at getting elected, but if he pitched this year he wouldn't be on the ballot for another 5 years. Clemens has a personal services contract with the Astros and they are completely out of the playoff race so it's not out of the question that in an attempt to sell tickets the Astros would sign Clemens.

agreed...there are exceptions to ever rule...but a LARGE majority i assume have at some point in their career taken PED's....

i mean, Pettitte was the last person i would have thought would take something, and under the right circumstances...people end up making decisions they wish they could take back
