At least Philly could justify contracts like Lee and Halladay have. These are the contracts the Dodgers would be picking up.

Beckett - Due $15.75 mill per year in 2012, 2013 and 2014
Crawford - Due between $19 and $21 mill every year through 2017
Gonzalez - Due between $21 mill+ every year through 2018.

Those are some massive commitments for many years.

No kidding. Crawford is the one I'm most worried about. We just paid Puig 40 million bucks to play the outfield possibly next year. The whole plan was maybe to push Etheir to first but that would be thrown out the door.

That is the proposed deal.

It's likely the Dodgers would absorb most, though not all, of the $261 million that Gonzalez, Beckett and Crawford are owed after this season.

The only way to explain this deal is Nav stole a SLS from work, drove to dodgers stadium, ran a hose from the exhaust to the central air unit, and has now changed baseball for the next half decade.
