I know. Last time a team I cheer for won anything was 1995 And there have been multiple in championship games since then (Braves in 96, 99; Falcons in 98; GT in 04).

Damn, Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward love playing in San Fran. 3 HRs, 5 RBIs each this series!

Ya, I'm right there with you. Teams I root for are:

MLB - Braves
NBA - Magic
NFL - Jaguars, Dolphins back when I was a kid and the Jags didn't exist.
NHL - Lightning

Basically the only title my teams ever won were the Braves in 1995 and Lightning in 2004. But given I watch almost no hockey until playoff time the 2004 Lightning championship meant little to me. My two favorite teams teams, Braves and Magic are a combined 1-7 in championship series in my lifetime.

Growing up in the 80's-90's it was equal parts pleasure and pain being a Braves fan. But I suppose sometimes the heartbreaking seasons make it all the more special when you finally win the big one. I was 15 when the Braves finally won it all in 1995 and it was surreal when they did it. Hopefully one day I can feel that if and when the Magic win an NBA title, but it'll probably be a long time before that happens.

My biggest disappointment was having a ticket to game 7 of the 1995 World Series

After the Boston trade the LA Dodgers now have $188.7 mill in salary commitments for 2013, and already $130.7 mill for 2014. I think that already puts them a not too distant second to the Yankees in 2013 payroll.

They are going to have a new (and massive) TV deal but that's still only going to be worth around $200 million per year. On Twitter ESPN business reporter Darren Rovell has said he's talked to numerous bankers and none of them can figure out how the team is going to make a profit, much less recoup any of the $2 billion they paid for the team. They are also going to have a huge luxury tax bill in 2014 when the penalties get more severe.

I've read the TV contract will be worth upwards of 400 million per year. They made all these moves to get excitement in LA and they sure exceeded at it. I haven't seen LA this excited for the Dodgers in awhile. Plus I can guarantee you there will be development around the stadium. Restaurants, entertainment, etc. There's tons of money to be made. You don't become 100 billion rich from throwing money away at expensive deals like the Dodgers. I'm confident they know what they are doing. They are already putting a ton of money into the farm system. Something the last regime didn't.

Have they actually cleaned up the stadium? I know things were bad when McCourt owned the team with gangs and other rifraf.

Not to mention Time Warner and Fox sports will be out bidding each other. Fox sports can't afford to lose the Dodgers as its already lost or to Pac 12 and Time Warner Laker channel.

I was there a couple weeks ago and saw a bunch of police standing around, something I really didn't notice before. They also beefed up police presence outside in the parking lot and added some new lighting. All was pretty smooth when I was there except the jerk behind me screaming for James Loneys head every ten minutes.

If their TV contract is higher than their payroll, there's no way they don't make a profit....

Apparently the Dodgers considered getting Gonzalez a critical element to their marketing plans going forward, so Boston demanded they take on the other salaries for Adrian.

And he's one of the top 1B in the league, with ties to the area (well, 2 hours away).

Yup! They want a dedicated Spanish only channel ala Lakers channel.
