People dump on every official in every sport. It's part of sports. No credit when they get it right, major hate if they're wrong.

ESPN has signed a new $5.6 billion TV deal with MLB:

The deal will allow ESPN to carry a Wild Card game and feature popular teams such as the New York Yankees more often, Ourand reports.

The cost is “approximately double” the $306 million per year ESPN pays MLB to broadcast games, Ourand reports.

Source: As part of its MLB deal, ESPN gets much more programming, including a 13 percent increase in the number of live games it can show.

ESPN’s also increases its digital and international rights in the deal. The network will maintain its schedule of showing games on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday each week.

AL manager of the year is between Robin Ventura (White Sox) & Buck Showalter (O's). Which ever of the two teams makes the playoffs, that manager should get it. If both teams make it, there has to be co-AL managers of the year.

That's a lot of money per team, and it's only one contract. I think MLB also has contracts with Fox and one or two other networks. Considering this money gets distributed evenly and smaller market teams get a fat luxury tax check I'd love to know how some of these smaller market teams justify spending nothing in payroll to field a competitive team. We need a team payroll floor more than we need a salary cap.

I don't see why Ventura would get it. They have a high payroll and were expected to be good this season. Oakland has the same record with far less in payroll. It would be Showalter first when A's manager Melvin a close second.

You must have obviously forgotten the White Sox had a fire sale in the off season and nothing was expected from them coming into this season and Ventura being a rookie manager.

How is that hating? Its fact, some teams like to unfairly over spend & it brings great satisfaction When they lose to a lower payroll team
