Kershaw is probably pitching the game after Sunday if the rotation remains the same. I believe it's a Dbacks game.

"Mattingly said that Clayton Kershaw will start the series finale against the Giants on Sunday night, on regular rest. The Dodgers have off days Thursday and Monday, which means someone will get pushed back, likely Joe Blanton, who starts Monday's opener against the Padres."

Honestly, I don't see us winning it all this year. At this rate (if things keep going as they are now), I don't even see us making the playoffs. One thing to note though, this reminds me a bit of 96 and 2000 (we had a big lead going into Sep and it started to slip, but we ended up winning the division and the WS both years but I don't see us winning it all in 2012).

Nationals are going through with shutting down Strasburg. Good luck with Zimmerman/Detwiler/Gonzalez/Jackson in the playoffs. This is great for every other potential NL playoff team.

What if the Nats never come close to this kind of record in the near future?

Zimmerman and Gonzalez have both been as good if not better than Strasburg this year.

If we can weather this storm and have at least a share of the division lead going into the last three weeks, I think we'll win it. We have a very favorable schedule down the stretch. But we have played like shit since the All-Star Break. Oh and Toronto has been absolutely no help at all the past week. They have rolled over for the O's and the Rays. I hope they show us the same courtesy when we see them the final two weeks.

Keep dreaming. Our pitching (outside of Kuroda) stinks the pen (which was a strength) is shit, the offense has basically flatlined. This team doesn't even know what smallball is. Even if we win the division/get to the playoffs, we'll get bumped in the first round. It's for Joe to go. Perhaps give Tony Pena a shot.

Granderson is hitting .190 since the All-Star Break. That's a huge problem. Injuries have killed us as well.

I"m not going to use injuries as a excuse. Every team goes through them. We're not playing good baseball, period. Don't be surprised that we're not playing after Oct 3.

Exactly. That franchise has had no excitement since the mid-90's when they were still in Montreal. It's very possible this could be their one real chance at a championship. That's why it's absolutely insane to sit him.

Yes, but those two guys are in the playoffs rotation regardless. Strasburg out means someone like Edwin Jackson or Ross Detwiler takes a playoff rotation spot. Those guys are having solid seasons, but it's a real drop off. Strasburg will probably be in NY or LA anyway when he hits free agency, so who cares if they burn him out?

EDIT - National have 6 home runs tonight.

Well I definitely am. Imagine what the bullpen would be like if we had Mo. Robertson-Soriano-Mo. The game would be reduced to 6 innings. Add C.C. missing 5 starts, Pettitte out for months, A-Rod out for months, Tex missing time, and Swish on the DL. Honestly, we've suffered some significant injuries. With all that being said, Cano and Granderson have not carried us in this abysmal run. I can't really say anything negative about Kuroda or Hughes. Both have played well. Anytime you're trotting out Derek Lowe from the bullpen, you know you are in trouble.

With the 'farm system' that they have finally developed...

You can't use that as a excuse. That's what the Yankee haters want us to do.

Its' not even that. I'm a Girardi fan but it's just would just be time for a change (Tony Pena?). What really kills me is that the offense doesn't even try to play small ball or manufacture a run. What what has me pulling my hair out.
