Braves are 5.5 back, with series at Miami, at Philly, home vs Miami, home vs New York and at Pittsburgh.
Nationals have series home vs Los Angeles, vs Milwaukee (4 games), at Philly, at St Louis and home vs Philly.

Nice to see a sweep. Figures they start this one game playoff nonsense the very year it hurts us. Under the old system we'd have a 7 game lead over everyone else for the Wild Card spot.

I'm actually glad to see Brian McCann out of the lineup. He hasn't been healthy the last month and his at-bats look awful. He's in a similar swoon as last season, when he also got injured. I think the years of catching are starting to take their toll on his hitting.

His defense has been pretty good since coming to Atlanta. It's just his bat that's mostly struggled (minus 33 straight games last year).

Could be a banner year for Atlanta's pro teams with both the Braves and Falcons looking very good. Not really a Falcons fan but I'd give an arm for the Braves to finally win another championship. Especially so being that this is Chipper's final season. I wonder if there's ever been a top-tier player who won a World Series title in his first and last seasons with none in between. It would happen for Chipper if the Braves won it all this season.

Some of the 2012 average home attendance figures are just sad.

#30 - Tampa Bay - 19,841 per game (worst in MLB) and the team is 78-69
#28 - Oakland - 20,428 - the A's are 84-62 and a likely playoff team
#24 - Chi White Sox - 24,520 - team is 80-66 and leading the AL Central. Meanwhile the Cubs average 36,078 per game and are the 2nd worst team in MLB.
#22 - Baltimore - 25,937 - Currently a Wild Card team and they have one of the best ballparks in the league.
#18 - Miami - 27,425 - This is their first season in a brand new ballpark in a good location. I think they were hoping for 30k+ per game this year.

The only three teams that average 95%+ of capacity for the season are Boston, Sam Francisco and Philadelphia. The only one of the three having a good year is San Fran.

To be fair the Trop and Coliseum are the two worst ballparks in the league.

I think it's time for MLB to admit that professional baseball in Florida is a failure. There is no way that Tampa should have ever gotten a team in the first place, there simply aren't enough baseball fans in Tampa to support a team.

I just hope that if the wild card game comes down to Atlanta & St. Louis, that you guys beat the Cards. I don't want to see another repeat of last years World Series. It would also kill me if the Cards ended up knocking the Reds out of the playoffs. If it's going to happen, I'd rather it be any other team than St. Louis.

Kris Medlen is amazing. If Beachy is back next year, the top of the pitching rotation with Beach and Meds would be awesome.
