Of Craig Kimbrel's last 55 outs (18.1 innings), 41 have been strikeouts!

Are broadcasters blind or something? It's the second straight day where I hear the Braves are clinging to a wild card spot. Yesterday it was one game, now two instead of realizing the third place team in the wild card standings is a whopping 10 games behind.

Gio Gonzales and Johnny Cueto have good cases as well.

For what it's worth, ESPN's "Cy Predictor" puts it at between Dickey and Gio, with Dickey having the edge, which is really impressive since they give points for winning the division, so Gio gets 11 extra points and Dickey gets none.

Of course, they also put Chapman 3rd and Kimbrel at 10th. But they include wins in the formula, and Chapman has 5 against Kimbrel's 2.

Yanks sweep the doubleheader.Very nice to see the Yankees are getting it done. Ichiro had a hell of a day 4 hits with 4 SB's in 1 game.

The Nats have to be furious at that horrific call the umps made gifting the Dodgers a run. Didn't seem like a big deal at the time down 5-0 but they came back with 6 runs in the 8th to tie the game but end up eventually losing.

Seems like these days the Cy Young voters value ERA far more than Wins as they did in the past. That's a good thing IMO as wins are very misleading. ERA really should be the most important statistic.

It's apparent the Braves have perfected cloning technology and duplicated Greg Maddux in the form of Kris Medlen. If they get a crafty lefthander next year with a circle changeup that goes on to win 20 games, you heard it here first.

Well, there is Mike Minor who throws a changeup and a 12-6 curve. He's also been excellent since the All-Star break.

MLB is close to a new eight-year TV contract with Fox and Turner Sports that will last through 2021. ESPN had already agreed to a new deal for the same period of time. Some of the key details:

Fox, which broadcasts a Saturday regular-season game each week under its current deal, will gain additional regular-season rights under the new contract. Fox is expected to put some games on a national cable network that likely will be a rebranded form of its Speed network.

Turner also will broadcast an LCS each year, two division series and 13 regular-season Sunday telecasts. However, it will gain more telecasts that will be broadcast simultaneously with the local club TV feed within a market and increased digital rights.

I was at both games. I had bought a pair of gloves from the Home Depot that's near the stadium for my job after the 1st game . Had security asked me when they inspected my bag before I entered the stadium for the 2nd game, I would have told them that it was to use when I'd Joe Girardi if he makes another ridiculous managerial move.

Have you seen Tom Glavine's numbers over his first few years? They're very Minor-esque. And Minor should be the 3rd starter in the not too distant future.
