Personally I think this two wildcard BS is dumb. There should only be one wildcard in MLB. That's the issue with NBA and NHL; too many playoff teams.

Agreed, what makes it even worse is the winner of that 1 gm playoff, gets the first two games at home, wtf... You play great baseball all year to win the division and you start on the road

I bet Kimbrel finishes at least top-3 in Cy Young voting despite being a closer. There aren't really any NL starters with jaw dropping stats this season. I guess Dickey has the edge since he's 18-6 with the best ERA of any NL starter at 2.67.

He's the anti-Strasburg. Both had Tommy John surgery around the same time but the Braves decided to limit his innings by putting him in the pen first. Brilliant.

An issue? Oh yeah I forgot, too many playoff teams reward mediocrity. LA Kings as an #8 seed were such a mediocre team that they won the Stanley Cup...

Personally I like it. If the old rules would apply, there would be absolutely no close playoff races in the NL. The AL is completely different.

They're an exception to the rule. I don't agree with leagues having 50% of their teams making postseason play. The playoffs should be a reward, not a gift.

No it's called parity. All 16 teams have a legitimate chance at winning the Cup, which is what makes the first round of the NHL Playoffs so exciting.

And what about the NY Giants? According to most people, they shouldn't have been in the post-season. I guess they didn't deserve their Super Bowl win because their playoff spot was "given" to them. I guess we should have less teams in the playoffs just so the top teams have an easier path to the Championship, that's probably what the Packers were thinking last season...

Division winner or not, many people think a 9-7 or 8-8 record is mediocre and has no business in the playoffs.

Teams should be awarded for winning the division. It means something to win your division. It equals playoff spot, guaranteed.

There should be 8 teams in each league that get into the playoffs (like the NBA/NHL) and the top two records in each league should get a 1st round by (like the NFL).

If you discount Glavine's brief cup of coffee appearance as a rookie, he only had one year you could really call bad. He was also on a mediocre team in those years, as Atlanta was the laughingstock of the league at that point. Minor came out of college and has virtually no upside over what he is doing now. Hopefully he can throw some innings for the Braves, but I am not expecting much from him in the future.
