If there's a team I'd like to see win the championship outside of Atlanta it's Oakland. Billy Beane's teams almost always over perform, but they've never had much postseason success. In any case it's nice to see Baltimore and Oakland make the playoffs and the Angels miss out.

It's 20 years and counting for a .500 season for Pittsburgh. The curse of Sid Bream turns 20 on October 14th.

Miggy has RBI and BA locked down now no one can catch him in that. HR is going to be the big question, if Texas rests Hamilton which they might tonight then its over Miggy wins, If Texas doesn't Miggy may rest today anyways. Lineup should be out today around 3-4pm EST here for Det., so ill keep an eye out for Miggy being out of the lineup tonight.

Hamilton has to hit two homeruns to take the crown away. Rules state that categorical ties are allowed.

RA Dickey has apparently pitched with a torn abdominal muscle. Since April.

After making his final 2012 start on Tuesday night, Dickey revealed he tore and possibly detached the stomach muscle during his second start of the season, on a cold April 13 night in Philadelphia. He has dealt with "dull pain" in his stomach area throughout the season.

Dickey knew a couple of months ago, after undergoing an MRI, that he would require postseason surgery. He said he regularly prayed with his wife that he would be able to get through the season.

He will undergo surgery in Philadelphia on Oct. 18 to repair the tear, which is on his right side.

It's all because MLB put together the new format in a hurry rather than taking the time and getting it right. Since MLB didn't approve the new format until after the TV schedule was finalized they were forced to go to a 2-3 format because due to the 1-game wild card playoff they didn't have time for the extra travel day that a 2-2-1 format would have required. Next year they'll go back to 2-2-1. They should have realized they didn't have time to properly implement the additional wild card team this year and delayed adding it until next season.
