That's where playoff bonuses kick in (the veterans on teams decide what share players get, if any).

I was wondering what you meant in your original post too, but it makes sense. Most of the guys on this Yankees team just don't have heart like the Yankees teams of the late 90's-early 00's. And the two guys who have the most heart (Jeter and Mariano) are out of action.

Those teams weren't HR reliant (like this line up is). Joe Torre brought the NL style of ball there.

They probably thought the WS was the series against the O's because this team has yet to show up.

Man I've missed Gardy. It will be nice to see him play full-time next season. We need to replace Swisher and Granderson.

He made a broad general statement about the whole team. If it was just "mercenaries" that were underperforming then I would somewhat agree with him. However what's the explanation for Cano and Granderson? Neither of these guys are "mercenaries." Plus he wants to use the premise that they only perform in the regular season because that's when they get paid. That's just a crap argument to make.

I just do not understand how a whole team can suddenly go anemic. It's ridiculous. There is no sense of urgency. They are just flat and going through the motions. It's frustrating as hell to watch this utter crap.

Wow, we scored a run via a HR. What a surprise. That's the only way we score runs. This is a feast or famine lineup.

The Yankees have a lot of hitters that don't have adaptable swings to anything but mash the ball. Too many swing-and-miss types who can't adjust to the much bigger strike zone seen in these playoffs. Most of the veterans aren't getting those favorable borderline ball calls anymore they would normally get in the regular season. The Yankees have no idea how to adjust. It's not a coincidence their two best hitters (non-Raul division) in the playoffs are Ichiro and Jeter, contact hitters that rarely try to drive the ball.

Even though I was in class, I still had to keep up with the game so I used MLB's Gameday during the lecture.

9th inning for Yankees made it seem like a historic comeback win was in place. Nunez with the solo HR while Teixeira and Cano(finally) got base hits. All that was left was Ibanez for an RBI or another clutch HR. What a disappointment

Considering I think they'll win the series, it's a cheap price to see history, especially of that's your favorite team.

I was debating to get a couple tickets and take my dad, but I think I'm going to pass. Plus, no way my wife is going to let me drop close to $700 for a game.

its more of a joke if youve watched any of our series all playoffs....the joke is, is that it really is basically over since we can barely score or hit

and why would we be ok with losing because we are the most winning franchise??? that makes no sense lol...

i dont think its about lack of heart....these guys all want to win...well, maybe not Arod...he is about his numbers....but to say someone like Swish doesnt have the heart is a bit ridiculous and hes playing like shit....thats just how it goes sometimes...
