You can add Jeter and Mariano to the Yankees total.

Ya, sure you won't. Until he goes back to sucking next season. You've paid him $99 mill so far for a 58-69 record with a 4.47 ERA.

Yankees definitely have a few coming. I've always thought Posada deserved consideration too, but I doubt he'll make it. Now that Ichiro is a Yankee he'd count as another. I really don't see Ichiro not making the HOF despite playing so many years in Japan.

Braves should have Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and Chipper in the not too distant future.

I wonder what percentage of these players had lengthy times with a club. For instance, 14 players (Dan Brothers, Cy Young, Ed Walsh, Rogers Hornsby, Burleigh Grimes, Babe Ruth, Al Simmons, Earl Averill, Lloyd Waner, Ernie Lombardi, Joe Medwick, Billy Herman, Enos Slaughter, Gaylord Perry) count for the Braves, despite playing 1 season (or less) with the team. There's a lot more if you up it to 3 years.

And Cox and Schuerholz. And possibly Mazzone.

Plus Torre [though he'd enter as a manager]

Ya, that I was unable to find so it's hard to say. A lot of these guys were bums by the time they played one of two final seasons with some other team. Need I mention the obvious - old man Willie Mays stumbling around the field in his final years with the Mets.

Good call. That list does include managers too. And Torre did manage the Braves, along with Yankees and Dodgers. I think Cox only managed the Braves and Jays.

Do many GM's make the HOF? Can't really think of many. I believe Branch Rickey is in as a GM.

I had forgotten about Torre managing the Braves. I was referring to his playing career (first HR in Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium).

Torre was a pretty good player too. He actually won an NL MVP in his monster 1971 season. Somehow he played 18 seasons and never played a single playoff game in his career, yet as a manager he coached a ton of playoff games.

This is what I've found. 295 members. 45 do not have a team associated with their plaques. They then break down the remaining 250 members. http://sportslistoftheday.com/2011/0...-most-members/

Does MLB give players a choice of which team is on their plaque? I'm thinking they still don't. I know Wade Boggs wanted to go into the HOF as a Tampa Bay Ray even though he played barely 2 seasons there.

I don't think they have a final say in the matter, but I think they get a little input into it.

They used to. The only people with no team affiliation are executives, umpires, some Negro League players and... Catfish Hunter. Hunter liked both the Yankees and A's and didn't want to choose between them, so he chose neither.

I'm not. Giants were founded in like 1883, O's in 1890 something, and the yanks weren't founded till the 1900s.

If you guys end up winning the NLCS, Zito's contract would be worth it.
