Man I'm so proud of this team, were like a group of annoying cockroaches that you just can't kill ... Thank you Zito for pitching the game of your career a few days ago, thank you Scutaro for carrying this team for the past 3 months, what an amazing pickup he's been

Gotta take down Verlander game 1 somehow, we can do this, 1 game at a time baby

What I mean by my comment is, the last three games we were outscored on 20-1 (or something like that), that is not typical of a championship type team......WAY to many errors, they looked like a little league team. You guys can dog the Cardinals all you want, I've read most of the comments on here about them, I get it, you guys hate them, but the simple fact is, they put up a good fight without having MAJOR superstars!

Eitherway, I am still proud of the Cardinals, first year for a manager that has NEVER managed before, loosing a bunch of players in the beginning of the year to injuries, etc.....for them to go as far as they did, they is close enough to a win for me.

Congrats to the Giants. I hope they win the world series now. I feel that if "my" team is gonna get clobbered, I want that team to go all the way....=)
You said you were embarrassed. I'm not sure why you would be. The Cardinals lost arguably the best hitter in MLB and didn't miss a beat this season, still making the NLCS. And they've won two championships in less than a decade.

Unlike most MLB teams from smaller markets I think the Cardinals make up for it with their fan base intensity. St. Louis averages over 40k per home game almost every season and usually ranks near the top of the league.

Of course the St. Louis metro area is 2.8 million people, which really isn't what I'd call "small market."

The World Series odds isn't a real surprise. Detroit is heavily favored. Here's the opening line for World Series winner. A lot of money to be make if you think the Giants can pull it off.

Detroit - 10/17
San Francisco - 11/4

Rotation for Detroit is set, you guys get Verlander 1,5 and 7, Fister 2,6 Sanchez 3 and Scherzer 4

BTW we on for the bet Nav? Your team made it, no more angry PM's lol

Seriously? They're going with Verlander on 2-days rest if it's needed? Should change him to 1-4-7 if they want 3 games.

Ok, maybe saying I was "embarrased" was a little harsh, but in the moment yes I was......the last three games they played like a team that should have been last in the division.....simple as that..... I bet you can ask any player on the team and they'll feel the same way.

Am I any less of a fan of the Cardinals? HELL NO......I'm looking forward to next year....They have overcome major adversity this year.....(even though the last three games didn't show it)......I'm damn proud of them. With some of the young players they had, they'll only get better. Not only did they loose Pujols, they also lost Berkman, who was a major player last season.

Yes St. Louis has 2.8mil people, thats not a small market, you are correct, but it isn't a major market like New York, LA, etc......St. Louis doesn't get the revenue that those teams/citys generate.

Good luck to the Giants....like I said, I'm pulling for them over Detroit......I'd like to see a team from the National League get it!

Did Leyland actually say V would pitch 5 & 7?

I did not want to face the Giants with all their current momentum. I do think Giants/Tigers is a better Series, but the Giants scare me!

Its the last game of the season for the World series your all star goes no matter what.

Mathematically it works out as he would pitch Wed/Sun/Thurs with travel and such

In relief it also leaves Porcello, Sanchez, and Sherzer if need be on full rest

Funny, I remember a heavily favored Texas Rangers were supposed to beat us easily in 2010, we all know how that worked out

Congrats to Scurato for winning the NLCS MVP, no one deserved it more then he did... With his LCS-record-tying 14 hits as he batted .500 (14-for-28)

In a 7 game series it would seem a given Verlander starts 3 games. No way he wouldn't pitch a game 7 on short rest.

With the way he's been going, I kind of hope they start Zito game 1, and the Tigers dont hit lefty's well, and for some strange reason, we always hit well vs great pitching... No one thought we would beat the likes of Halliday or Lee in 2010, yet we did... Giants have the momentum, hoping we win game 1 this time around, so stressful playing from behind...

This is the first time the Giants/Tigers will meet in the world series, and both teams have been around for 125 years.... wow

Zito went Sunday right? not sure they will start him on 2 days rest. I wouldn't recommend it either, I am excited for the Giants vs Tigers i think it offers very interesting matchups especially your guys base running. One thing i noticed is your not afraid to play small ball, or double steal or do a hit and run.

You have an old school manager who has won before and has been around 19 years, we have an old school manager who has won before and has been around 21 years. This is going to be a good philosophical matchup but I doubt the ratings will agree not that anyone gives a crap about that stuff anyways.

If you love baseball there's a lot to love about this world series

Come to think of it I don't ever remember Detroit being in SF since I have been watching baseball.

Ozzie Guillen has been fired by the Marlins. Not exactly a surprise since there were rumors weeks ago that they were looking at potential candidates to replace him.
