I forgot to mention how great of a baserunner Teixeira is. His baserunning alone single-handedly won the Yankees a few games this year.

The only edge Jeter has is in the playoffs, but even then it's up for debate.

Remember the Twins game... 11th inning, bases loaded, 0 outs? If Teix didn't snag that line drive, the Twins would've easily added 2 runs, and who knows how many more by the end of that inning.

Remember Game 3... bottom of the 14th, Teix hits a walk-off home run?

So sure, overall he may be in a bit of a slump, but he's played a pretty big role despite that, in just the early stages of the playoffs. And whether the playoff MVP is Jeter or Teixeira isn't really up for debate, because the MVP is clearly A-Rod.

It's not apparent because he wasn't better than Jeter this year. You want to talk about baserunning. Jeter had more SB's this year also Jeter has given the Yanks the lead way more times in the playoffs than Tex has. How many times has in this series alone has he put the Yanks ahead early in the game. Speaking of which there goes Tex to the bench with a K. Jeter has been way more important than Tex has. Again Jeter has been the MVP this year. Great regular season great postseason. Neither A-ROD or Tex has been as great as Jeter has this WHOLE year.

It is apparent. What part of team sport don't you get? I don't care about personal stats (batting average, stolen bases, etc). All I care about are the ones that matter to the team: runs scored and runs batted in.

Jeter: 107 runs, 66 RBI
Teix: 103 runs, 122 RBI

Which one is harder to replace?

It's pretty obvious. Go find a free agent that can get you 120 RBI and scores 100 runs. It might take a while to find one. Jeter had a decent number of stolen bases, but you can go get a young guy with fresh legs in the minors to replace that, so stolen bases is an irrelevant stat to me.

So what is the end-all be-all of stats? Just to get nerdy, I'll bring up a stat most people never heard of: MLVr, the Marginal Lineup Value, which is an estimate of the number of runs a given player will contribute to the lineup. This isn't RBIs, it's just run contribution in general.

Know who leads the Yankees in terms of MLVr?

That's a trick question... it's Juan Miranda. But he's obviously an outlier, because he only played in a couple games which skew his numbers.

Of the regular players, the MLVr leader on the Yankees is.... Mark Teixeira. A-Rod is 2nd, Jeter is 3rd.

A little weird to not plan for Mo in the 10th from the get-go. If you trusted Hughes for the 10th, they should've left him in, instead of trying to rush Mo in now. But I guess if it doesn't end well, he'd be second-guessed either way ("Why'd you bring Mo in?" "Why didn't you bring Mo in?").

Wow...my blood pressure just shot up...Mo made a terrible throw...still not sure about that one and Teix saved the game...wow...both teams are fighting now but unfortunately, the Yanks aren't 90 ft away.
