I'm with ya bud

Miami just got robbed....Jays only gave up Escobar, Mathis, Alvarez and 3 solid prospects but gave up none of their elite prospects (Gose, D,Arnaud, etc....)

With Buehrle, Johnson, Morrow, Romero, and probably Drabek or Hutchinson as their starters, this team is now a contender. I really don't see any weaknesses from top to bottom.

Johnson had an off year this season...but people forget that he missed all of last season due to shoulder inflammation and before that he was a true ace (career 3.15 ERA).....it just took him a while this season to find his game again....to make things worse, the Marlins offense gave him very little run support.

Just hope Lawrie gets it going and EE continues to build on his great play.......just to need to hope the injury bug stays away from us next season.

Go Jays!!!

F'n Marlins did it again. Except this time it wasn't after a world series win. Loria should be exiled from here for good. What a douchebag.

Miami didn't get robbed, they successfully got out of all their big contracts and didn't care what they got in return. ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell was on Mike & Mike this morning and he said that the Marlins might have an opening day payroll of around $30 million this year. He also said that in the collective bargaining talks earlier this year the union wouldn't even discuss implementing a salary floor because they feared it would eventually lead to a salary cap. It's clear that Jeffrey Loria doesn't care about fielding a winning team and is content with making a massive profit thanks to baseball's revenue sharing and luxury taxes that the big markets pay. When the city and county agreed to pay $360 million of the $520 million for a new stadium they should have forced the Marlins to spend a minimum amount each year but they didn't and now the Marlins will continue to be stingy in one of MLB's nicest stadiums.

Only problem with that is, if they sported a winning team I think miami fans would support them. Not sure which is more profittable.

Loria is completely destroying that franchise. He goes on a spending spree one day then a fire sale the next. Congrats to Toronto on a major heist. Didn't think they had it in them to pull off this sort of big money move.

The AL East should have 4 teams over .500 next year. Looks like Boston ia going to be last place again unless they make some big moves.

Boston was set back 2 years by the crap that happened last year. They never should have let Francono go

Tigers got there Corner Outfielder

Quote:

Tigers ink OF Hunter to two-year, $26M deal

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Tigers and Torii Hunter have agreed to a two-year contract, pending a physical.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the deal is worth $26 million. Hunter said earlier this week that he planned to make a decision about his future quickly and he stayed true to his word, ultimately settling on the Tigers after meeting with the team in Detroit on Tuesday. The 37-year-old batted .313/.365/.451 with 16 home runs, 92 RBI, nine stolen bases and an .817 OPS this season and should be the everyday right fielder for the Tigers in 2013.

Well at least Loria doesn't own the Heat too or he might have sent LeBron, Wade and Bosh to Toronto for a bag of peanuts.

Offensive players

1B: Adam Lind
2B: Emilio Bonafacio
3B: Brett Lawrie
SS: Jose Reyes
UT/DH: Edwin Encarnacion
RF: Jose Bautista
CF: Colby Rasmus
LF: Rajai Davis
C: JP Arencibia & John Buck

Starting Pitchers:

Mark Buerhle
Ricky Romero
Brandon Morrow
Josh Johnson
Drew Hutchinson
Kyle Drabek

Relief Pitchers:

Brad Lincoln
Steve Delabar
Luis Perez
Darren Oliver
Sergio Santos
Casey Janssen (closer)
J.A Happ

This is likely the make up of the team but there still are a few uncertainties like whether Anthony Gose will be utilized as a starter in the outfield and Rajai Davis may be a bench player....plus there's still spring traning to decide who makes the cut.

When is Drabek expected to be back? He has tons of potential, but has lacked any kind of consistency.

I'm a little surprised Price won the Cy. Figured Verlander would narrowly win it. Price deserves it though with his slightly better ERA and W-L record.

Jeffrey Loria just keeps making himself look worse and worse. How is "we finished in last place" a valid argument for giving away your remaining stars? Losing these guys only makes the team worse. Much worse. And the team might not have finished in last if he didn't start giving guys away at the trade deadline when the team wasn't playing all that bad.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/86...t-place-finish

Quote:
Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria became frustrated Wednesday when asked why he decided to dismantle most of the talent on his team such a short time after assembling it.

"We finished in last place. Figure it out," he told CBSSports.com from the winter meetings in Chicago.

Sources told ESPN that the Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a blockbuster trade that would send shortstop Jose Reyes, pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle, catcher John Buck and infielder-outfielder Emilio Bonifacio to Toronto for prospects.

The trade could save Loria and the Marlins approximately $150 million, which prompted a backlash from South Floridians angered by the team's latest payroll purge.

"Everybody in the world wants to talk about the Marlins and the fact they're now a Triple-A team," said city commissioner Marc Sarnoff, who was an opponent of the team's new ballpark project. "The Marlins have lost pretty much all credibility with fans. Even if this trade is a positive move from a baseball standpoint, it won't be viewed by the general public as a positive move."

Us Mets fans haven't had too much to cheer for lately. Congrats to R A Dickey for winning the NL Cy Young.
