I would rather have Kershaw locked up long term first before throwing money at Greinke... What ever he gets, Kershaw will demand a similar contract...

I agree 100%. The longer the Dodgers sit on Kershaw the more he will get. Plus he's younger. He gonna get paid huge, that's for sure.

Of course it was. MLB had no authority to block a trade to begin with. This was all just Selig publicly pretending like he was concerned about a lopsided trade. The trade was no worse then we've seen 100 times before, often involving the Yankees sending a bunch of prospects to some other team for a high priced veteran.

The Rays have reached an agreement with Evan Longoria on a six-year, $100 million extension. Longoria was already signed through 2016 thanks to the six-year, $17.5 million deal with club options for 2014, 2015, and 2016 (the total value of the nine years is $44 million) that they signed Longoria to less than a week after his MLB debut, so this locks him up through 2022, with a club option for 2023.

I'm very surprised they gave out an extension this big. Of the bright side if he breaks down and underperforms they can always just pawn him off to the Dodgers.
