I mean they just got out of their mess thanks to the Dodgers and this is how they start?
I don't get it either. Greinke's ERA is consistently in the 3.50-4.00 range literally every season except 2009 when he won the Cy Young. This guy isn't worth anywhere near the numbers being thrown around. And that's assuming he deals with the pressure of pitching for a franchise like the Dodgers. The guy has some big social anxiety issues.

Giants lock up Scutaro, not liking the contract though 3/yr $20 million ... While he was a HUGE part of our post season success, That's a lot for a soon to be 37 year old

Our core is locked up for for another few title runs

How do you feel about this Steve? Especially with Kershaw a free agent next year
Kershaw isn't a free agent until after the 2014 season. He signed a two-year deal with the Dodgers that expires after the 2013 season but then he still has one more year of arbitration.

At what point is enough... enough

Pujols - 240 million
A Rod 275 Million
Fielder 214 Million
Miguel Cabrera - 152 million
Adrian Gonzalez 154 Million
Troy Tulowitzki, $157.75 million
Matt Kemp, $160 million
CC Sabathia, $161 million
Mark Teixeira, $180 million
Joe Mauer, $184 million
Joey Votto, $225 million

Are any of these players REALLY worth that much money? Now you want to add Grenkie and Hamilton to the list plus whatever else is signed this year. I mean for god sakes its nice ot have these players yes but these salaries are ridiculous. No damn wonder a World Series ticket is 300 dollars when you have to pay these stupid ass salaries. This sport is getting way out of hand and someone needs to step in and stop this crap before the average price for a ticket is 60 dollars for the bleacher seats.

I hope the rumors of the Braves going after Justin Upton and/or Emilio Bonafacio are accurate. Would be awesome to have an outfield of Heyward and the Upton brothers.

What I always find amusing is how every time labor negotiations comes up owners talk about fiscal responsibility and fixing the sport's finances. Then as soon as that's over owners start throwing out more $160+ mill guaranteed deals. Some of these deals stretch far past players primes, often past the time the player will be 40 and probably mediocre.

Well the only reason im bringing this up is because the Tigers owner who also owns the wings is asking for public funding for a new stadium for the wings. Now this is what cracks me up this guy has had a 40 year lease on the current arena from the city and has only been paying 40k/yr on said lease. Meanwhile his teams have made hand over foot and his wife partially owns a major casino downtown as well as Little Caesars pizza.

Can someone please explain to me why as a taxpaying resident I should fund his new arena, especially considering the prices he splaying these players combined with the fact were being told the avg price for a ticket is going to increase from 50 to almost 85 dollars per ticket to support our new arena... WTF!!

Im sorry these owners are making hand over foot and we as taxpaying residents shouldn't be paying for there arenas much less these enormous ticket prices.

Easy way to solve that, don't go to games. People have forgotten, we have the power. Stop spending every dollar made to support people who don't deserve it.

Public funding for a Detroit sports team? Where is this money going to come from? I've seen houses for sale in Detriot for less than $100.

Yeah Chad thats my point they already FUBAR the first 2 arenas, rather then putting them within a few blocks of each other and building the area they are right on top of one another all owned byt he same media guys. The city is corrupt and inept and they are completly blundering everything. They could have built it up perfectly putting 1 staium on either side of the freeway tore down the crack houses built bars and livened up the city but NOPE.

Darren Oliver. Arthur Rhodes.

If you're a lefty reliever and can stay healthy, you'll pitch til you're 50.

It sounds like Scott Boras isn't finding the market for closer Rafael Soriano that he expected. When he opted out of the final year of his deal with the Yankees it was rumored that he was looking for a 4-year deal worth around $60 million. So far there doesn't seem to be any teams interested in paying him near that much. Boras is trying to get the Tigers interested in Soriano but they apparently aren't interested and are happy with who they have. I'm anxious to see what kind of contract Soriano ends up with because it doesn't seem like any of the big spending teams are interested in him.

Tigers already told Boras no, we have a closer right now that they want to bring up Bruce Rondon who tops 103MPH on his fastball and his slider is wicked.
