I've been thinking that just about every year for over a half decade and it never happens. All they've managed is a 1-8 record in two World Series they were favored to win.

Former relief pitcher Ugueth Urbina has been released fron prison in Venezuela after serving over 5 years for attempted murder. Apparently he wants to attempt an MLB comeback at 38. Good luck with that.

I'm so glad the Braves didn't re-sign him years ago. He actually only had one bad year in Atlanta to that point. The Dodgers ended up blowing a lot of money on him and he batted like .150 there. I guess his professional life isn't the only fail for him these days.

Yep, the Dodgers owe Andruw Jones $3.2 million payments in 2013 and 2014. Manny Ramirez will also be getting a $8.3 million payment from the Dodgers in 2013.

Supposedly Andruw Jones just signed a $3.5 mill deal to play for a Japanese league team earlier this month. I know Japan tends to have strict laws against who they let in. Bet his visa gets revoked and/or his contract voided.

From '97 to like '02 he was one of my favorite players in the league, in his prime there was nobody better defensively.

Actually he was top-tier through 2006. Andruw Jones was probably on track for the HOF. He won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves from 1998-2007 and was a consistent 30-35 HR, 90-110 RBI hitter. And his collapse happened at age 30, an age where hitters usually hit their prime.

True, his career batting average which I believe hovers somewhere around .250 would have been the only knock against him.

Another sad death due to concussions is sounds like. Ten concussions is a LOT if that number is accurate. RIP.

Ryan Freel dies at age 36

Ryan Freel, a former Major League Baseball player known for his fearless play but whose career was cut short after eight seasons by a series of head and other injuries, was found dead Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla., according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Freel, who was 36, died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted shotgun wound, sheriff's office spokesman Shannon Hartley wrote in an email Sunday. The medical examiner will make the final determination of the cause of death.

"RIP Ryan Freel!! Great teammate, great guy,n loved his family!" former Cincinnati Reds teammate Sean Casey tweeted. "Such a sad day today with his passing!Awful news!Prayers are with his family!"

The speedy Freel spent six of his eight big league seasons with the Reds and finished his career in 2009 with a .268 average and 143 steals.

"Really hurt by his passing!" Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips said on Twitter. "You'll never will be forgotten."

Freel drew attention in 2006 when he was quoted by the Dayton Daily News as saying he had an imaginary friend, Farney. "He's a little guy who lives in my head who talks to me and I talk to him," Freel was quoted as saying. "Everybody thinks I talk to myself, so I tell 'em I'm talking to Farney."

The Jacksonville native thrilled fans with his all-out style, yet it took a toll on his career. During his playing days, he once estimated he had sustained up to 10 concussions. Freel missed 30 games in 2007 after a collision with a teammate caused a concussion.

World Series hero Sergio Romo was handcuffed New Year’s Day at the Las Vegas airport … TMZ has learned — after allegedly becoming belligerent with a TSA officer. Law enforcement sources tell us, the San Francisco Giants pitcher was detained by cops because he couldn’t provide the proper ID to clear security

I guess he just looked illegal?

Anyway, Romo was allegedly “angry and aggressive.” Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Romo was under the influence. Not sure about the drunk part, but he is a closer and people tell me that they need to be angry and aggressive.

Meanwhile, Brian Wilson is sitting in a darkened study someplace, pondering his next move.
