Delmon Young's 1 year contract for $750,000 also has the possibility for Young to get $600,000 in bonuses for simply "making weight". If he weighs 230 or less on the first 3 random days, he'll make $100,000 for each. The last 3 are 235 or less.

Braves and Diamondbacks are in talks for a trade for Justin Upton that won't include Andrelton! Could happen as soon as tonight, but DBacks want to make a decision on dumping Upton or Kubel by Friday night.

To play what position? I thought Justin Upton played RF, same as Heyward.

I think they are looking at him for LF. But I have full confidence that either one of them could play LF without a problem. They're two of the top defensive OFers.

Potential lineup... lots of strikeouts, but also some big innings:

1. Simmons SS
2. Heyward RF
3. JUpton LF
4. Freeman 1B
5. BJ Upton CF
6. McCann C (I think Laird will hit 8th though)
7. Uggla 2B
8. Francisco/Johnson 3B

Also, the majority of this team could be around for a while (free agent years):
2013: McCann
2016: Heyward, J Upton, Uggla
2017: Freeman, Johnson
2018: BJ Upton, Francisco
2019: Simmons

Details of the braves Upton trade according to CBS

MLB.com's Mark Bowman says the Braves will receive Upton and Chris Johnson in exchange for Martin Prado, Randall Delgado, Nick Ahmed, Zeke Spruill and Brandon Drury. Upton finished fourth in the National League MVP voting in 2011 after hitting .289/.369/.529 with 31 homers, 21 steals and 88 RBI in 159 games as a 23-year-old. Now 25 years of age, he will be joining his older brother B.J. in Atlanta. It should be a great fit, and great theater.

I don't know. Prado is a FA after the season, and the Braves weren't able to work out a deal with him now. They weren't going to pay him the 11-12/year he's looking for, so it made sense to go ahead and get something for him.

What's up with Bourne, he's obviously not getting the $100+/mil contract Boras promised him, or he thinks that he can get.. I wonder what he will settle for

Sounds like the Mets want to make an offer, but they're having to make sure with MLB that they only lose a 2nd round draft pick.

So, if a team signs an "A" free agent, they lose their 1st round draft pick, unless they have a top-10 pick. Well, this year, the Mets had the 10th worst record, so they got the #10 pick in the draft. EXCEPT, the Pirates failed to sign their draft pick last year, so they get their top 10 spot back, and the Mets get the 11th pick. The Mets don't want to lose their pick, so they're arguing that by the intent of the rule, they should get to be considered as a top-10 pick, and lose a second rounder.

The Dodgers were rumored to be in on Bourne when there were talks of trading Ethier as they have no legit lead off hitter. Haven't heard anything for a couple weeks now.

If Bourn doesn't sign within the next couple weeks he's likely going to have to sign a one-year deal and try again after the season for a big money contract. Boras has used this strategy in the past with his clients, although usually they are coming off an injury or sub par year.
