Wow. Can't believe that Spring Training games start so soon. Can't wait to see if my Orioles can repeat the same success as last year. Hoping to if guys like Nick Markakis and Nolan Reimold can return to form. They were missed near the end of last year. I'm also really interested to see who'll be the starting 5 and if Jair Jurrjens can return anywhere close to his All-Star form from a couple years ago.

Josh Hamilton is coming off really bad with his attacks on Rangers fans. He went on about how great Angels fans are and how bad Rangers fans are. Here's the avg home attendance for 2012...

LA Angels - 37,799
Texas - 42,719

And if Crawford is finally healthy, and A-Gon plays merely to his potential, then we could be a threat. On paper is one thing, but in the actual games is another. I just hope that this is the year that we can rise above those damn Giants and win the division, and hopefully go even further.
You need to hope Greinke doesn't snap in LA. He's not very stable mentally.

This isn't the Lakers, where winning is an absolute must. I mean yeah, the Dodgers are looking to win. But the atmosphere in L.A. for the Dodgers is not a pressure cooker. I already know of his anxiety issues, but I feel that he'll be just fine with the laid back atmosphere that Donnie Baseball brings to the clubhouse.

A healthy Matt Kemp is one of the biggest factors. Time for another MPV worthy season.

Not yet...but if their 40 million cuban prospect Puig pans out, then Ethier is the odd man out unless he can learn to play 3rd or something.

My favorite part of Spring Training is hearing about the funny injuries...

Quote:
On Friday, Casey Kotchman signed a free-agent deal with the Marlins, his seventh team in 10 MLB seasons. He was brought on, at least in part, because Logan Morrison is coming off knee surgery. Only now Kotchman will be out for at least a few days, too. During a drill yesterday, he accidentally ran into a pitching machine that was tossing infield pop-ups. But instead of letting the machine fall to the ground after the collision, Kotchman tried to grab it to keep it upright. He wound up gashing his left index finger and had to get four stitches.

"It's probably not every day where you get your hand caught in a pitching machine, on a pop fly," he said.

Teammate Greg Dobbs interjected that Kotchman should have let the machine topple over.

"I'm trying to be a gentleman to the machine, and not throw it down to the ground," Kotchman replied.

Spring-training snapshot du jour: Craig Kimbrel threw live “batting practice” for 10 minutes Monday. Some fun.

The designated victims: Juan Francisco, Ramiro Pena and Evan Gattis.

In 10 minutes of flailing away at baseball’s most dominating closer, the ball left the batting cage exactly twice. And even that took seven minutes, before Gattis thunked a broken-bat humpback liner off the pitching screen and then flared a ball into right field a few swings later.

So live “batting practice” wouldn't seem to describe what went on there. Would it? That, said the manager, Fredi Gonzalez, was “pitching practice.”

What were the #'s of the previous 5 years? You would hope they would have great attendance off back to back WS appearances. But I get what you're saying. He should leave well enough alone.

Can't wait until his first game back in Texas. He's gonna get the Lebron treatment I bet.

Anybody kind of weary of the World Baseball Classic of this year? Didn't a lot of the players who played in the previous two struggle mightily at the beginning of the MLB season?

The context is what annoys me about Hamilton's statement.

The statement itself, Dallas isn't a baseball town, is completely true. If the Cowboys had a whiff of success the Rangers would be shunted aside in a heartbeat.

The problem I have is his claiming that the reason he was booed is because Dallas isn't a baseball town.

No, moron, you were booed because you SUCKED for 5 months and stopped TRYING.

Michael Young had a terrible year and nobody booed him. Napoli wasn't remotely the same player he used to be but still got cheered. Ian Kinsler had the worst year of his career and fans still liked him. What's the difference? Those three players actually tried.
