I know an international release exists, but heard it was subpar. Would love for Criterion to release this

Masterpiece? Not hardly! I didn't think Dead Ringers was all that great. Dead Ringers always have been overrated. The movie was dreadful, boring and uninteresting.

I always seem to either really love or get utterly bored by Cronenberg films and this was one of the latter unfortunately...

Do you know who has the US rights?

I do hope they eventually release it, or Arrow Video, either one. Same for Existenz and Crash.

I don't know. Arrow would be even better and yes, I would love Existenz as well. Never seen Crash.

I saw it once.....A little too creepy for my tastes, an excellent movie none-the-less. Perhaps they can make.....Dead Ringers: The Musical......LOL

It's all so confusing. Morgan Creek was the original studio and they still have a page dedicated to this film on their website. Oddly on their info page for Dead Ringers is a Fox logo/link to their site. At some point years back Criterion released a version on DVD/Laser. Is it completely out of the question to get Criterion to do it again? Does Warner just currently hold a streaming license? Who knows.

Criterion lost the rights, as their DVD went OOP long ago. Warner would later issue their own DVD of the film, which is still in print and available on Amazon and, IIRC, featured most of the Criterion extras. So it looks like Warner still has the film.

This CronenClassic is sorely needed on a proper Blu-ray. The French Blu-ray is apparently 1080i and runs at PAL speed. :-(

Dead Ringers is my favorite Cronenberg! Crap like The Brood has been released by Criterion, but this gem still doesn't have a release, its killing me!

Since the deal between Warner Bros. and Morgan Creek ended, i'm certain we will definitely get a Criterion blu-ray sooner than later.

The AU disc was not only misframed, but 1080i. Hopefully a proper version comes sooner or later.
