Sheesh, underwhelming numbers on the pic of Grover et.al. so far, unless there is some sort of computer counting lag time here.
So, how the hell do you guys think I can actually forward that post to David Bishop (President of SPHE) for consideration? I mean, another noted film restorationist (Schawn Beltson) only drew a real time audience of 20 people on the DVD/Blu-ray forum known as HTF.
Is that all we can expect here on a Blu-ray forum for Grover?

Look……..for you lurkers/non-members out there, the first new member who clicks on Grover’s photo above and tells me on this thread that he has overcome the “registration inertia” to actually sign up and become a new member of this noble forum…………..

I will send him/her the 4 Blu-rays which comprise the Ray Harryhausen Collection (which Grover is intimately associated with) as a gift…………namely,
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
20 Million Miles to Earth
Earth vs The Flying Saucers
It Came From Beneath the Sea

^
P.S.
The above contest is only applicable to U.S. residents only, sorry.
C'mon you lazy lurkers, show me what you've got.

Well, according to HTF, the Warner chat the other night was a record-breaker.

It's been less than an hour, and I would guess that a lot of "regulars" are in work (it's 8:15pm here so I'm allowed )

Damn, I knew I should never have posted here before

On your serious point though, the time difference is obviously a problem for me personally. Although it's not unheard of for me to make arrangements to watch things like Superbowls and Academy Award ceremonies, so don't rule me out!

He said that he was amenable to the idea.
Maybe some time in the future we can set up a chat when everyone’s schedule is in synch and George has a boatload of new Blu-ray info that has accumulated over time that he can divulge in order to make it a worthwhile endeavor. It would be most optimal to also get other guys like Bill Baggelaar and Ned Price for the techno/restoration questions but, the logistics of doing so with everyone going to meetings at different times, etc. would indeed be a real challenge.

I just don’t know how much time/effort that would be involved for our mods to make this happen esp. since we’ve got mods on this forum that are in different time zones all over the world.
You get around even more, I am impressed !

That would be very nice, especially if some questions regarding technical/restoration issues could be answered.

If a chat is considered too strenous maybe it would also be possible to do a kind of interview in whatever format with a prepared catalog of questions - which would have to be agreed upon beforehand but something that helps not to field too many questions with regard to what is coming out when (that could be dealt with in terms of a list with movies to be released with fixed dates in place or just in certain stages of preparation).

In any case a format that is a bit more organized with the goal to cover more ground would be my preference.

2) People aren't allowed to make a list of q's before hand - therefore duplicate/stupid q's get asked- if a list of say 50 titles could be created that people wanna know about beforehand then these could be addressed at the start so at least some chat time could be devoted to q's other than when/if is xyz title coming out - i'm not suprised the WB guy's wanted to end it early!
This is easily solved with having all qs go through a moderator

Ok, i took the bait. I'm a new user, I've over come the registration inertia, and I've clicked the link to the picture. I don't know who it is tho.

I kind of feel guilty about being bribed into registering, as I have been reading this forum for a long time now. I even went back and read this whole thread from the beginning. I don't really think I'll have a lot to say normally, but i will say Thank You for all the time and effort you spend here.

Ok...I've been lurking for months in this thread and guess it's time to say Hi. I'm also going to do some research on Vilmos Zsigmond becuse I'm ashamed to say I don't know his work.

And to top it all, it just had a massive price drop at amazon UK. What the hell, I just ordered it along with Bleak House.

My gosh, Penton. Every time you mention a title I end up spending more money. *shakes fist*

But I'm not jealous of the free Harryhausen - I got it around Christmas on an amazon Lightning Deal.

Welcome, and although you might feel that you "don't really think I'll have a lot to say normally" it's always going to be good that you're now able to comment and ask questions!

Thanks, and who knows I may come out my shell, yet.

I looked up Vilmos Zsigmond on IMDB and, wow, he does have an impressive resume. Close Encounters of the Third Kind is probably my favorite movie he's worked on, but there are quite a few others I like as well. I'll admit I don't know a lot about cinematographers, but I'm always willing to learn.
