penton is the bda in close contacts with WB at the moment? given recent actions by them (announcing more titles for hd dvd, denying the rumors) has your optimism for them making the correct decision gone down at all?

Anybody know if equal numbers of Blade Runner shipped on HD DVD and BD? Same with Harry Potter Box Sets?
I ask because I went to TWO best-buys yesterday and today and found HD DVD copies of the H.P. Box set and HD DVD copies of Blade Runner (single disc) but no BD box-sets of Harry Potter and no BD copies of any kind for Blade Runner. So the BD versions were either sold-out because of higher demand, or they didn't get as many shipped as HD DVD. |

Now, since we have all had to read through these posts about this, including mine. It is only fair that these pictures, if she has the courage to step out of the punk box and do them, be posted for all here to enjoy. Last edited by richard lichtenfelt; 12-19-2007 at 08:52 PM. |

I own most of the Warner BDs already, but have had a problem like everyone else getting my copy of Blade Runner shipped. (There was an issue before with the new Warner Kubrik BDs being impossible to find also)
![]() It is worrisome that the HD DVD Blade Runner seems to be in stock everywhere and was produced in plentiful suppy whereas the Blu-ray version is almost vaporware. I really do not trust Warner to make the best decision, especially after the Paramount debacle, and hope this isn't some kind of effort to skew sales numbers in favor of HD DVD. (tinfoil hat, i know) |

Question for insiders:
The Blu-ray discs for Blade Runner both look and feel significantly different from all other Blu-ray discs I own. What might be the reason behind this? |

Question to Penton:
What's up with Paramount? It looks like they're amassing money. 150 $M last August for HD DVD, 500 $M now with Microsoft, and who knows how much if they ever plan to sell Dreamworks... In France they've signed Gaumont Video and claimed that they want to eventually get a 10% market share in video, which is big. I understand that they may be the #1 studio this year at the box-office and that Indy 4 is coming up next. But still, it looks like something's amiss... They haven't exactly been one of the most profitable studios in the past few years, and from what I've read they don't make as many movies as Warner or Sony. Even if we look at video, they don't really have the reputation of breaking new ground. In the early days of DVD, they were among the last to invest in remasters and supplementals. And if we look at their neutral HDM releases then and their HD DVDs now, they sure don't look very excited to invest in hi-def. So, what are they up to? Are they willing to invest more in film production and attracting more talent? Or is it short term? (Indy) Have they suddenly discovered that they sit on a huge catalog and would like to exploit like Warner does with its own? Or are they trying to follow Disney's footsteps in the digital alliances? Last but not least, is Microsoft looking to buy a movie studio? Or are they simply trying to establish a fallback position that might guarantee them a better ROI than HD DVD? Thanks for your insight! |

This in now way is meant to be rude, and I'm guessing that this question is just wasting my time, but are you possibly looking and feeling the 2 DVDs in the set?

Wow, never realized you were a Suicidegirl model. Cool. I'm big fan. I went to one of the burlesque shows your ouftit puts on a couple years back at First Ave in Minneapolis. Maybe we need a Suicidegirls insider thread.
