Really have 0 interest in 8k at this point. I understand the tv makers want new buzzwords to win over your average consumer though. Seems like upscaling things to 8k will cause more issues than making anything look better but maybe I'm wrong.

I have lived in Japan for 7 years. I haven't seen 8K as a standard yet. I haven't seen 4K as a standard yet. I'm not saying the resolution of 4K or 8K doesn't exist, I'm just saying I haven't seen it yet. 4K TVs are a big deal to most Japanese consumers, but most do not have it. I can say for a fact that my Japanese friends are amazed that I have 4K.

• http://www.areadvd.de/tests/special-...st-verfuegbar/ We need more 8K free content, not only from NASA but also from National Geographic, Life, Paris Match, Documentary Heaven, YouTube, Nature, Scientific Earth, World Things, Wide Sports, Mountain Ascensions, Future Cities, Global Warming, Climate Change, Wildlife. We also need more 4K content in (((3D))); this is an open free market that nobody had the guts to explore yet. With 8K it should be easy as ABC. It seems that in North America the leaders in visual technology are afraid to explore the very best. It's like they are dictated by the banking system instead of the forward 3D evolution. Maybe when we reach 16 and 32K, just before 4D Holography? And forget it about those 3D virtual goggles. We like to have our heads, eyes and ears and senses free...without wearing any silly gear...goggles, headphones and sunglasses. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() Samsung to Showcase 8K TVs at Experience Stores Samsung has announced the launch of three Samsung Experience stores in the U.S. The first three stores will open Wednesday (February 20) at the Galleria in Houston, the Americana at Brand shopping complex in Glendale, CA, and at the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City, New York, providing a place where the public can go to “get a feel for Samsung products first-hand.” The openings will coincide with a “10 years of Galaxy” celebration and follow Samsung 837, a “living lab and digital playground” for the company’s products and technologies that opened in New York City three years ago. Like an Apple Store, visitors to Samsung Experience locations will get hands-on demos of Samsung products, including its new 8K TVs, virtual reality (VR), SmartThings devices, wearables, tablets, and smartphones. The stores will also feature a 4K gaming lounge and offer customer support, including walk-in repair for mobile devices. https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...erience-stores |

Streaming service Rakuten TV triples smart screen reach and takes on Netflix with 8k
Streaming service provider Rakuten TV is stepping up its VOD war with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, by expanding into 42 countries and promising 8k content before the end of the year. It is also partnering with Samsung, LG, Philips and Hisense to introduce a dedicated remote control button on their respective smart TVs. The move will enable the European streaming TV service to reach more than 30 million households. Rakuten TV says it will offer the widest 4K HDR movie catalogue available through Smart TVs, as it pursues "the best cinema experience at home." The company also says it will introduce 8K technology VOD distribution “during the second semester of 2019.” Rakuten TV currently rents movies in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos via LG TVs, and is the VOD partner for IMAX Enhanced in Europe. It has also bankrolled its own movie slate, including Hurricane (pictured). http://www.insideci.co.uk/news/strea...x-with-8k.aspx |

about 8K and the possibility of 3D in 4K res. I have 0 interest in glasses free technology so get the current one with glasses and make it right this time. also the fact that we don’t even have 4K broadcasted yet by major TV channels is another turn off and the rumors about the possibility of no physical media in 8k.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vo1.2 in 2D and the bit where Groot is dancing at the start of the movie, and for the first time I noticed the speaker on screen (that later gets smashed) is vibrating. You can make out the speaker vibrating in 2D but that detail is lost in 3D. In an ideal world, you'd have the detail (4K) AND the vibrant colours (HDR/DV) AND the depth (3D). That's the dream. |
