Need to get that checked out!
Look around you, the real world is not 'Pacific Rim' sharp, but all things and objects have a subtle natural softness to them. Oblivion recreates that natural softness.

Maybe without my glasses things look soft. I don’t have an issue with the 4K, I prefer it to the BD.

Oblivion's UHD has been majorly softened. The HDR is aces. That's about all there is to it.

Pretty much exactly this.

But we’ll continue to have the troll drag this one on another 20 pages.

Let's start spreading negative rumors so that all UHDs will drop to $10. Good idea

None of what I or Geoff said about Oblivion are rumors. Again, you are spreading misinformation.

That would be true if I was the only one who doesn't think the UHD is extremely soft

I'll post these again for your ever biased eyes: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d1...0&a=1&go=0&l=1

I also own both discs and if you switch from the BD to the UHD the loss of detail is apparent to my eyes.

Yes, the BD looks sharper based on those comparison screenshots, but honestly the UHD seems to have a more natural sharpness to it, not soft but not overly sharp. In some shots the BD actually seems to have added artificial sharpness similar to what we can achieve by boosting sharpness to over 25 on our oled panels.

I guess facts mean nothing to you, but this is a tired old argument with you across multiple threads/topics.

The UHD is 2160p and does not need added sharpness. Sure it doesn't win Sharpest UHD of the Year award or anything, but it is not distractingly soft either. It just has a natural look to it.

Anyways, I loved it and I highly recommend it!

From High-def

But what the HDR pass also seems to have done is smooth over (for lack of a better phrase) some of the details that were quite obvious in the original 1080p transfer. While most close-up shots of the actors do look a tad better when it comes to details, wider shots and establishing shots of scenes seem to have lost some of their clarity

Just to say the BD do not look overly sharp if it does then your sharpness is set to high

The UHD have all the else going for it, but sharpness it does not.

Oled sharp should be set at 0/0 so it does not over sharpening things. my ISF calibrator said so too and showed me. but I have always used sharpness at 0 on all my tv's I have owned.

Ok great, after you are done with the personal shots, and once you have established that the UHD is too soft, maybe you can unsubscribe from this thread and post in the BD only thread for good, so that those who love this UHD can keep posting here freely
