So many Michael Crichton books that could be made into great movies if done right.

I'm a graphic novel junkie, so I'd like The Umbrella Academy to be a film.

I'd love a GOOD Andromeda Strain film, they had a tv-movie recently with Benjamin Brat that I watched, it was ok, but it could have been better.

as for another book,
I'd like to see the Fahrenheit 451 movie move forward

I have read most of Dan Brown's books and thought A&D was the best, followed by Davinci Code and then Deception Point. I don't want to be let down so I am hesitantly waiting for A&D on Blu-ray.

IMO the 2 hour limit in movies is what works against books to movies (not to mention trailers which give away most of the movies). I am looking forward to the Pillars of the Earth mini-series adaptation which will be an 8 hour saga. Although TV has a lower budget than film ($40M in this case), I want to see how the longer time affects the story.
Don't you think Russell Crowe would've been a better pick than Tom Hanks for Robert Langdon?!?! Russell's character in A Beautiful Mind sold me on that idea, but not Ron Howard I guess...even though he directed Russell in it.

Goes to show how a REALLY good book can make a REALLY bad movie when the casting is off

I know it is slated for an HBO series, but Game of Thrones would be nice to see!

Deception point. I think it would make a perfect movie.

Deception Point is a copy/paste type of book to movie. There is nothing to alter and is perfectly transferrable to the big screen IMO. I would look forward to seeing the Delta Force and the ice chase scene. I always saw Catherine Zeta-Jones as Rachel (she's probably too old now though - still super hot though).

I assume, of course, that you already know those were both made into movies back in the good old days.

I thought the TV-movie Andromeda strain was quite inferior to the 1971 film... but then, I never do care much for any of those cable TV movies.

The Beast House trilogy by Laymon would make a super horror film.
Apart from that, anything by Grisham, Koontz, Reichs (TV's Bones is based on her books but bares no relation to them), Foster and Perry (wrote the sequels to the Cameron' Aliens) would be welcome.

Great book - not sure if anyone could adapt it properly - however, it was really "cool". Not sure what I'd think of this book if I read it now.

Ender's Game would be hard to market. It's a grown up movie about kids - always a hard sell (like Lord of the Flies). Also, for me, although I thought the book was fantastic, the ending was a bit of a let down - but doesn't detract from the story that led up to it.

Well put. Really, most Dan Brown novels seem to be copy/paste (even Da Vinci) - somehow, Ron Howard and Tom Hanks made that story BORING on screen.

(Haven't seen A&D because of my disappointment with TDC - I'll check it out on Blu-ray).

It has surprises, revenge, love lost and found, villains and allies of all different types, a dynamic and likeable hero, light humor, and it's long enough that even very tightly edited it would clock somewhere between five and seven hours, so it would make a good two- or three-film franchise; and finally, it's a book that is completely out of the mold of everything else written by that author, who is now dead. Can't say anymore, I don't want to give it away.
