Does anyone know if the US Paramount release will actually be the exact same disc as the Universal UK/AU release? That is, will it have the U-Control features, etc of the universal release or with it be another Paramount butchering of a Universal disc. I want to get the US release but want to make sure it will be the same content as the UK/Au release. Im guesing so since it has the DTS HD-MA track but just want to be sure everything else will be identical. I have read a few places that its supposed o be but was wondering if anyone had definate clarification of this.

No...
Both the Universal and Paramount/Dreamworks releases have interactive content with Picture-in-Picture. The difference is in the way you view the content. Universal calls it U-Control and it will appear as such on the international release. For the Paramount/Dreamworks release, it will be used differently with an icon that does not infringe on Universal's trademark. Last edited by steve_dave; 08-12-2009 at 11:12 PM. |

The Sapphire Series are 2-Discs for every title in this release line.
I'm still going to hold onto my Signature Selction 2-Disc and fancy shmancy Extended Edition 3-Disc DVD's even when I buy the Blu-ray. I even told Charlie de Lauzirika this. Although the Sapphire Series is porting over every extra from the two DVD releases, I quite like the booklets and overall design layout of both. Especially since the Extended Edition is a Digipak. Now I'm debating on getting the release here in the US with the slipcover or the UK Steelbook? Can't wait for future titles. Last edited by Ray_Rogers; 08-13-2009 at 05:48 PM. |

Besides, unless it's just plain bad PQ, most people don't notice a bad picture unless they have something to compare it against. I'm not saying people can't spot a bad picture, but our eyes adapt to what we're looking at. You can get used to a picture that isn't top-notch, making it seem just fine, after you've watched it for a while. |

screencaps are a decent indicator of difference, but they always look better when viewing it on TV. So i like to think that while seeing the screen caps for Gladiator and Braveheart.. knowing how much better they look when watching the BD they usually look even better. :-) also some complain dvdbeavers caps can be misleading and I know they have had issue in the past dealing with how they transferred the screen captures and somehow they didn't translate well enough. I remember emailing Gary about their screen caps for 2001 and told him flat out the special edition caps looked the same as the BD caps lol and he said they looked better... i was tryign to tell him that there was something wrong cause I knew the BD looked so much better than the DVD versions. Well it wasn't too long after that they posted a notice that seemed to state they did have an error with connection etc and it caused the screen caps to look as they did/do at that time. but we all know 2001 BD looks far better than the DVD releases. 9I kinda wish WB's would give their films more space, but oh well.
