Man, I can't believe people are still going on and on about then when it's CLEARLY evident if you take 5 seconds and just look at the video. |

aox,
You have the remasteed version. End of story. Not enough for skeptics, let me 'splain: 1. All English covers indicating US release. and 2. US releases with Yellow UPC are the remastered releases, all of them. If it had bilingual art, that would be a different story. |

I couldn't believe how beautiful this film was! I hadn't seen it in a long time, and it almost was like seeing it for the first time. Really glad I bought this movie, despite the hefty price tag! It really is an amazing film where everything is done right, although I think the score is a bit too Trevor Rabin style (Yes, I know it's a Hans Zimmer score) at times. Film: 4,5 PQ: 5- (Only a few specks hold it back from absolute perfection. Soft shots are inherited from the the source material and therefore don't count) AQ: 5 A must have disc for sure! Quote:
I had to search endlessly to find out whether I had the corrected version or not. The thread is massive, and it would be so much more helpful if they'd just do as I suggested, as there are still people who want to make sure that they have the right one WITHOUT having to open it first. You got the same disc from Amazon as I did, and if that is the first issue I will gladly eat my hand, because I am really sensitive to image quality, but there was pretty much nothing that tampered my enjoyment of the film. Quite on the contrary, the costumes, locations were a sight to behold! |

Bilingual cover art? No. You have the remastered copy thanks to Paramount US. Yes. You have a fifty-fifty chance thanks to Paramount Canada.

All copies with Yellow UPCs in the US are the remastered version. and All copies with a White UPC that are missing the words "2-Disc Set" above the Paramount logo on the actual art, not slipcover, in the US are the remastered version. - The release is also not "defective" as per the accepted term of defective. The only issu with the original pressings is the fact that it had DNR and edge enhancement applied to it. This is not a defect nor should it be considered a defect. Paramount and Universal have both been kind enough to provide a replacement to consumers who would like a version without the DNR & EE. The same can be said for Let The Right One In where alternate subtitles are included on the initial pressings. It is not a defect but Magnolia did repress the disc with the original theatrival subtitles. Unfortunately, Magnolia is not providing replacements for consumers. |

I bought mine last week from the nearby Best Buy. Five copies were on the shelf and I went through each one of them to see whether they are all remastered versions or not. All of them had yellow UPCs but one. I looked for the words '2 Disc-Set' above Paramount logo on the actual art and it was there. So that must be a first version copy; they are still out there.

I just purchased the remastered version this afternoon. The UPC is yellow and the copyright is dated 2010. The words "2-DISC SET" appear above the Paramount logo. In addition, the serial number on the belly of the disc ends in R2.
There are almost no words to describe the difference in the video quality; it's like someone came along and removed the Saran Wrap from my eyes. That said, there needs to be much stricter minimum standards and quality assurance requirements in place to publish material in association with Blu-ray. The technology hasn't even reached its full market potential and these substandard releases are only confusing the public. djsilon |
