WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH PATTON?

If he mentioned Patton in the review..... I guess I missed it
OK LET ME EXPLAIN THEN!

Patton was hammered all over the net including the Digital Bits Review for the SAME EXACT problems as Gladiator. The DNR cry babies on this site have hammered Patton thus the reviewer on this site gives it a rating of 5.

In comes Gladiator....same crying....same bad review at the bits...and the reviewr gives it a 3 for the same problems.

Now I could care less what the reviewer gives these films but you dont find that odd?

If you want to go into the thread discussing Patton, I'll happily agree with you that the movie, in my opinion, wasn't worthy of a "5" rating for PQ..... I'd say 3.0 for it is about right as a matter of fact......

THE POINT IS...... he was reviewing GLADIATOR.... not simply giving Gladiator a rating based on how it compares to Patton.....

Independent of the Patton review, reading this review it seems fair, thus IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PATTON....... see?

Video - 3.5/5 - the picture looks scrubbed and uneven, parts look fantastic while others look Overall though, it's very watchable for lack of a better term. I thought the dream sequences looked the best. I watched the entire extended edition and found that the more fleshed out story added to the film.

Is it better than the DVD? YES
Is it ref quality? No
Am I disappointed? No - from what people are saying it's the worst transfer ever and that simply is not true. It's not fantastic and it's not terrible. It's right in the middle.

Screen shots do NOT do the movie justice.

The movie content makes up for it and you really loose yourself in the movie and stop nit-picking every detail. Some of you people must not enjoy films, some are probably the gaming type that buy games based on graphics. I found the blu-ray to be a great addition to my collection.

Enjoy Sussudio, I highly recommend watching the extended cut. Loved the extra little bits of story.

Let's just agree to disagree then...this obviously isn't going anywhere.

Thanks for your thoughts, Dead (and well thought out thoughts too, it seems ) ! I look forward to seeing it too, especially since I've never seen the Extended Cut before.

BTW- I just finished watching Shawn the Sheep and there was lots of grain in it, I believe the sheep were eating it On a side note, my son finally fell asleep

I have heard this complaint the DVD seem to have more bass.

I don't have the DVD but the BD sounded good to me, it has less bass than most modern movies, I mean with men fighting in an arena, I don't exactly expect to hear the stomping bass of optimus prime?

Yes I was thinking when the chariot hit the wall it should have had a bit more. But most other situation it seems adequate.

Good to see it was given a 3.0 like I gave it. Blu-ray.com gets much respect from me for telling it like it is and not sugar coating a mediocre release. I hope other sites follow suite.

A worthy purchase. The extras were very awesome on this disc as well.

This flick looked great on a 60" Kuro.
It looked very good on my Kuro too, maybe not the best I have ever seen, but excellent. Why all the complaints

Default Gladiator on Bluray

First let me start by saying that I was scared of Gladiator after all those reviews going around the web. So I received Gladiator today and of course the first thing was to check it out.
I might have to add that I used my average 32 inch HDTV 1080i, Onkyo 606 receiver and Sony BDP-S350. All I can say is WOW what a presentation of Gladiator. I gave the Video a solid 4 because it doesnt jump out of the screen like the new releases do. The Video could have been a little better but I think it is acceptable and if Paramount does a re-release, I will be there to get it one more time. The Audio is light years ahead of the DVD version.
I have to agree with another reviewer on here who said that" it does matter what equipment you are using" it all changes for everyone.
I cannot wait to check it out on my 60 inch DLP and Denon 2500BTCI and 2808CI with Definitive Technology speakers all around. Everything with my main setup is much better then the Onkyo and Sony. So if you got a little Sammy or Panny and not good enough HDMI's I believe not just this but every movie will suffer dramatically.

If you love Gladiator just get it especially that the movie is $22.99 at amazon.com and you get $10 in rebates if you got the DVD which most of us still have.
Same goes for Braveheart and Forrest Gump, so in reality you can save $30 all together and I think thats already worth it. One more thing I didnt mind the DNR in Gladiator I thought it was fine the way it is.

Alright I am back with my final review of Gladiator after viewing it on my Mitsubishi 60 inch 1080P DLP, Denon 2500BTCI and Audioquest HDMI cables.

I dont know how people set up their equipment but I can only imagine that most of you DO NOT adjust your HDTV's properly and same goes for the cheap Sammy, Panny, Memorex etc. Bluray players most of you use. You cannot adjust the contrast, color, DNR, Gamma on cheap players period. What my Denon 2500 did to Gladiator should be experienced by everyone who has no idea of what they are doing.
I still saw some DNR but you know what it did NOT bother me, and the movie overall is extraordinary and never looked like the way it does with my equipment.
If you want the best out of your blurays DO NOT bother with anything but Denon, Marantz, Pioneer Elite and Sony ES.
The rest is just not worth your money or time. Also if you got a TV that is 5 years or older its time to get a new one.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Gladiator and now I can only imagine Braveheart which will be in my hands on Tuesday and only because Amazon shipped it to me via Ground and it should have been Second Day Air, oh well gotta wait for that, but again no offense to anybody but understand that you get what you pay for.
If you love Gladiator and got a decent setup go for it and enjoy!

You better throw the PS3 in there, SERIOUSLY!!! I have compared it up against stand alones and it exceeded every single one of them.
also, I think you just opened up a whole can of worms.
