i don't know why you guys are complaining this is the first time i watched it and wow it looks good . also this was a great movie wow this movie made me cry lol i love it

Too late. Already bought it. Watched my friends copy the other night while at his house and don't know what people are complaining about.

I just had five family members watch the movie, and asked them what they thought of the PQ...All of them were raving about how great it looks. Meaning 99% of the "regular" customers will not notice anything of the flaws we have been discussing here.

They can't see blatant edge enhancement and DNR? To be fair, I don't see the haloing or artifacting that some of you do but I guess it's something your eyes have to be used to seeing.

Watching about half of the film this morning, I didn't really notice the picture quality issues. I still can't for the life me understand what's supposed to be wrong with the fireballs. There's EE and halos, but once you actually sit down and watch the film, they fall by the wayside, IMO.

Funny, I watched it with 3 people, none of whom are HD aficionados, and they all were unimpressed. I had to convince them that not all Blu-Rays look that bad.

I just ordered it on blu-ray, I'm hoping the transfer it won't be as bad as most people say. I love this movie!

If you like Gladiator, I recommend you pick it up. Is the PQ perfect, no. Nonetheless, it is still far better then the DVD version.

I own and I am not regretting that I purchased it.

Great. Thanks! Yes, I love Gladiator! And I was looking forward to this release, but I was dissapointed when I started reading the bad reviews about the transfer. I decided to give it a chance anyway, because I love the movie!

I find it pretty sad that you consider a Blu-ray a "pretty good disc" just because it is better than the DVD. Well then every Blu-ray is a "pretty good disc" then.

From reading all the posts I get the feeling that as long as a transfer is better than the DVD people are happy.

I guess people will be happy when LOTR, Star Wars and Jurassic Park are released as long as the transfer is a bit better than the DVD.

Personally myself, I can't stand movies with inconsistent PQ. From all the reviews and comments this is exactly the issues with Gladiator. Some scenes look great and some scenes look heavily processed. So I think I will stick my DVD version.

I watched Blade Runner a few nights ago and the PQ was stunning for a film which is much older than Gladiator. It shows how a transfer should be done.
