The PQ is better than the DVD by default but the truth is it's just not a big step up. One of the worst transfers of the year and the worst thing about it is it was one of the most anticipated ones. Unless you can get it for about $10, I say stick with the DVD.

If I understand your question correctly: You don't have the DVD but want to know if the Blu-ray is worth it???? Assuming you are a fan of Gladiator as a movie. It is a must have blu-ray, especially if you do not have the DVD. The step-up from a DVD is enough in my opinion to definitely NOT buy the DVD and buy the Blu instead. I am one of the ones who felt the transfer was not very good to Blu-ray, but there is no way in hell I would recommend buying the DVD instead! IMO, buying a DVD now-a-days just does not make any sense if the price difference is not significant between a Blu and a DVD. Me personally, I stopped buying DVDs altogether almost 3 years ago.

It's worthwhile for the audio, for having two cuts of the movie (theatrical and extended), and for having loads and loads of extras. PQ is the only flaw (...and I still don't think it's completely terrible, just a wee bit soft).

it's absolutely worth buying, I don't know what the hell are people talking about the transfer, to me it looks very nice and sharp with excellent colors much better than its dvd counterpart which I also have. Don't listen to the super anal complainers, if you can find it for a good deal then I say don't hesitate to buy it. I bought mine for $10 from Amazon's black Friday sale.

There's so many ways to watch a movie... I wouldn't spend money on it.

It's not the greatest transfer just not as bad as people make it out to be. Other titles like Ghostbusters are much worse. |

It could certainly be better..... but I didn't own it on DVD either, so I bought it, and Braveheart (which I also didn't own on DVD) because the Blu-ray releases are currently the best available option for these films......
And yes... the Audio on Gladiator is very nice...... but I don't recall the DVD, since it had only been a rental for me. |
