Okay, so here's MY situation : First it was the 3 Disc Extended edition on DVD, cost me $ 15.98. Then it was the DTS version because not only did I get a home theater setup ( Harmon Kardon / Yamaha ), but I MET THE GUY THAT DID THE DTS MIX !!! VERY proud of his work with the flaming arrows, so I scored a copy for $ 10.00. Now I'm this huge advocate for Blu Ray, but ALL you guys are really upset...sounds like I should wait for a possible future reissue to Blu.

I bought the UK steelbook and really enjoyed the movie. I noticed the arrows and the whole scene looked weird but what is that like 10 seconds of the movie.
Did not bother me, the rest of the movie looked great.

No reason to wait. The BD is fine. It's not the greatest picture we've ever seen, but some scenes are actually excellent. Others, not so much. No reason to avoid replacing the DBD.

Default Rumour of Re-Mastered Gladiator

Please let this be so (from thedigitialbits.com):

Quote:
Along these same lines, consider this Rumor Mill-worthy, but our industry sources are telling is that Paramount will be re-issuing their Gladiator Blu-ray later this Summer or Fall, complete with a brand-new 1080p transfer that was just completed a couple of months ago. (It was done after Paramount and Universal realized how bad the first one was, naturally.) Paramount is re-issuing a number of their BDs this month in new Academy Award-themed packaging. The Gladiator DVD is included in this, but not the Blu-ray, and sources tell us this is because they studio will re-issue the Blu-ray timed to the theatrical or home video release of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood later this year. It MAY also be re-branded as a new 10th Anniversary Edition. We'll post official details as they become available. (And no, we don't know if there will be an exchange program there either.)

Good to see some studios trying to rectify huge blunders. Really hope this is true.
No replacement program is needed, anyone who cares enough about the video issues to replace it knew exactly what a stinker they were buying

What about the vast majority of consumers who don't obsessively read blu-ray message boards, and bought it because they were simply excited that Gladiator was finally out?

I think if they're gonna re-release it so quickly to get the new transfer on store shelves, there should be an exchange program.

Exactly.

I knew what I was getting for my $10 and was still more than happy to spend it for the Blu-ray Disc. I only had the original DVD release from 2000 so now I got the extended version, a ton of extras, and some new stuff.

I hope the new release, if true, also boasts the $40 retail price with NO upgrade coupons and no "free" exchanges. After all, I've read plenty of posts from a lot of the members here who refused to buy it because of the flaws. Yet, a few people cracked when it hit the $10 price point and got it "free" after rebate.

Sony and Disney never made their "exchange" programs public for The Fifth Element and Pirates of the Carribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. So how do the consumers find out about the issues with these? Further how do they know they can even exchange them?

I don't see why they have to. There are very few things in the world you'd get this sort of "rebate" on. If you bought a 1st generation ipod touch, apple isn't going to discount your 2nd gen one with the volume buttons.

Good thing I waited (hopefully that news is true). I'm also waiting for a better transfer of Batman Begins. They both deserve the best.
