Default So is there any word on the French May 11th transfer?

So I followed the Blu-Ray.com story about new releases when they were posted a couple months ago. What I didn't read until today was the new French release does NOT say if it's a REMASTER or not. So I suppose it could be the old transfer again. But why have a 2009 release, and then a 2010 if it's NOT the new / good version?

Anyway, I have some time to cancel my order if there is info indicating this is NOT the remastered version. But unless Digital Bits or someone can confirm it's NOT the remastered version, I may leave my order and take my chances. SO want this on BLU!

I would wait for some kind of official confirmation that it is remastered, but chances are this is the same trash the rest of the world already got.

I just ordered this from Amazon. I guess I did it so I would have all the Saphire Series, and its one of my favorite movies. Should I cancel my order and wait for a better transfer?

I would cancel and wait. A remaster is coming, it's just a question of when.

I'd do the the same as DetroitSportsFan
Why take the chance, or even better why not just rent it if you really want to see it, a remaster will come eventually, money saved.

Nothing official yet. Speculation is that it might come at the same time Scott's "Robin Hood" releases on Blu.

Just checking. That's another title worthy of the Sapphire Series name.

Alright idiot here. Never really looked at the thread. How would I know if I'm getting the newer one and is it that big of a difference?

There has yet to be a second release of Gladiator on BD. Whatever you see now is the original release.

I am curious about this as well. They had the opposite reaction to Saving Private Ryan...why are they dragging their feet on this?

Saving Private Ryan was an authoring error that resulted in an audio sync issue which Technicolor acknowledged and is easily fixed.

Gladiator is a different story:

Universal had the original elements and produced the Blu-ray Disc for themselves and Paramount. Universal used a video poor master and would have to use new elements to "fix" this issue.

Further, Universal could be selfish and not even produce or provide a new remastered version of Gladiator to Paramount.

According to information from Swedish retailers, the long-rumored re-release of Ridley Scott's Gladiator will finally come out on October 13, probably to coincide with the release of the new Scott/Crowe vehicle, Robin Hood. This new edition had been pre-announced for May, only to be indefinitely delayed days later (see blu-ray.com, March 3, March 9 and March 18).

Update: apparently, in the Netherlands the rerelease will be available even sooner, as early as July 1. (Thanks to forum member *TIMMIE*)
