NOTE TO MODERATORS: I just had a tongue-in-cheek post removed and was curious why. I investigated the forum rules (which I read when I registered but it's been a long time since then, so things go gray) and saw the line "You are only allowed to discuss religion and politics when it is the main topic of a specific movie", which I would guess was the issue with my post. Saving Private Ryan and Gladiator were two titles I was always looking forward to on BD. When the original Gladiator was released, I was so disappointed, so it will be nice to have both titles done correctly.

What's wrong with the 2nd issued disc of SPR?

Where does it say anything about Gladiator being "done correctly"? I just see news of a re-release.

I'd be all over that too.

I only paid $10 for the present BD after the $10 rebate from the DVD and the only other reason I bought the BD was for the extended cut.

No regrets here. I'm still happy with the original. I remember all the hype about how bad the picture looked. Then I bought it, because I'm impatient, and was actually blown away by the picture when I first popped it in. I thought the opening battle scene looked amazing. That was the first time I had seen colors pop out of that scene.

I have a 42" Panasonic plasma display, so you guys with the bigger screens might notice the flaws more than I did. I will say I did notice some waxiness on Richard Harris' face though, but I can live with it.

SPR looks great and the lip sync issue was corrected. It will be nice to have a remastered Gladiator as finally now having both films look and sound great was something I always hoped for.

ive held off buying this blu due to the bad pq reviews and have held off to a updated version, but ive seen the uk steelbook on sale on amazon.uk for less than $18. what do you guys think. get this and the updated blu when it comes?

They won't, and why should they? There was nothing "defective" about the first Gladiator disc, except that someone DNR'd it to death. The PQ was terrible, but alot of people liked it for some unknown reason. But it would still play properly, unlike Saving Private Ryan. That had an audio glitch and was an authoring error, that's why it got a replacement. Bad PQ is subjective, in a way; sync issues in audio isn't.
