No, wait, wait, wait. Paramount won't want your original Blu-ray. They work on the honor system and will just send the new Blu-ray to anyone who asks.
Pirates of the Caribbean was sent to me by Disney without any proof

anyway, thanks to the guy before who gave me the paramount e-mail. Hopefully, i can get this disc replaced as fast as they were with Saving Private Ryan

Then the person at BVHE that sent you the disc w/o proof was a moron and was most likely fired. When I called them about my POTC disc, they took my personal info, I then had a pre-paid envelope sent to me, I sent them the defect disc, then they sent my new disc.

Yeah and that would make sense, it's in line with what happened with SPR.

Did you happen to catch the woman's name? I'm still trying to figure out who this Jeane person was and why they told me that I have the wrong number lol...

Actually...

I believe if you had the disc replaced immediately, they didn't ask for the original one back. Lots of people who replaced it within the first week of the exchange program got to keep their discs (and possibly for a while after that, but I didn't keep track once I got my replacement disc). Same with Terminator 3. I still have both the Pirates and T3 defective discs.

And no, that doesn't make them a moron. If you notice the last post on page 199, they even mentioned how they were able to keep their disc. Studios don't always ask for the disc back.

Then I'm pretty sure you're in the minority. I still have my original POTC, alongside my original Matrix Revolutions disc. If you look in the POTC thread, I'm almost positive you'll find that, at least for a certain time, nobody was required to send in their old disc.

Yeah I had to do that too for POTC.

Can I just e-mail Paramount my info...or do I have to call first?

I kind of want to say that she said her name was Jeane, but she was very friendly to me. Now, I did notice that the number you called ended in 5710 I think? I called 5711, but I'm almost positive I talked to Jeane, so . . . I don't know what the difference would be between the two numbers, especially if you talk to the same person.

I'm still waiting for that Unbreakable replacement too, btw.

I think the number I actually got thru on was the one ending with 3010. I should clarify, she wasn't exactly rude. She just was somewhat abrupt and made it sound like I was an insane person (probably because if she wasn't involved with the exchange program, she would be incredibly confused as to what I was even saying).

Well, being that my experience differs, is it beyond reasonable assumption to think that someone at BVHE (WHV for that matter) said to their customer service department "WTF DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!!!" and if not fired the person in charge, certainly gave him a stern talking to? I'm not saying ppl didn't get to keep the original discs, but as they are no longer doing it, it's safe to assume someone got their ass chewed over it.

Or it's possible that for a limited time, they didn't want the disc back because every single version out there was "defective." Then after a period of time (after the new ones hit store shelves) they wanted to make sure that people weren't getting replacements for discs that aren't actually defective.

But my entire point is that we don't know for sure what Paramount is doing or how they're handling the exchange. No one can say for sure that you do or don't have to send your disc back. We simply have to wait for instructions from Paramount on what to do.

Agreed, but lets not kid ourselves either. While Paramount did allow for exchanges at the retail level for SPR, if you wanted to get your disc replaced through Paramount, you had to send the old disc first. Looking at PHE's stance on Gladiator ("Hey, its not our fault that you don't like how it looks, but to stop your whining, here you go, now stop bothering me."), you can be sure they're not sending you anything before they get your old copy.

Yup.

And it's not like that first Gladiator just came out. It came out 10 months ago. Of course they don't expect anyone to still have their receipt (however, I do), but they do expect proof of purchase via disc or UPC

Mod note: The Official details have not been disclosed and Frozenpinky is merely speculating on how it should work or has been done in the past.

Take it for what it is

Thank you! That's exactly the point I've been trying to make (and tried to make during the whole SPR thing as well). They probably will want the disc back (or at least some proof that you have it) but right now, no one knows for sure.

Yeah when I did my Pirates of the Caribbean disc, I believe they asked me to read some numbers off of the disc. I even asked the woman if she wanted me to send my disc in and she said they have no use for it. Same with Terminator 3.

With SPR, I know they wanted people's discs back (actually the case and everything). I ended up exchanging mine through Amazon and even got a $5 credit. But I've read from a few people that they had issues doing the exchange with Technicolor. I believe one persons disc even went missing and they're not doing anything about it. Luckily that seems like an isolated incident.
