Well, the first one isnt defective. And the replacement is just for folks who prefer no EE and DNR. Its an "upgrade" program.

I fail see why the colors of a print of a relatively modern film should differ greatly from what is intended, nor do I understand why you place the word correct in quotation marks, as I never discussed this issue in terms of wrong or right, only of preference. Playing with the color timing of films is a common modern practice that I can usually spot straight away because there are almost always scenes in which the color manipulation stands out. This practice is ultimately neither right nor wrong; I simply mentioned earlier on that people who do not like the color timing should be free to say so, whether the director approved the color timing of the new transfer or not.

Sure, whatever you say. To be fair, however, at least they're offering to replace discs, unlike the Gangs of New York debacle. So I'll stop complaining...

I was at Paramount. I agree with your BS comment.

I'm watching the remaster right now. It's as beautiful as they say. Call me joyous that my 2nd favorite movie now truly looks high-definition.

Color-timing difference or not, Ridley signed off on it.

I'm shedding a tear. Beautiful stuff.

Is anyone sending this in using a specific type of envelope to send this in?

I wrapped the disk in a manila folder and placed it in a large envelope.

I placed 4 stamps on it and am hoping this will be good enough.

I love this movie and my mouth began watering when the new number came up. The customer service rep that dealt with was not that anxious to help me and I was a bit put off.

Anyhoo, I can not wait for my new edition.

SWEEEEEEeEEEEEEEET!!!!!!

Same here.

So really the only reason to call is if you don't have the address. They don't take any of your info down. You send it with disk 1.

Just checked out my local Frys and they haven't replaced the originals, nor have they pulled them from the shelf.
I was also thinking about the envelope problem, I'm going to do the same as monty123 posted.

Paramount did not issue a recall on Gladiator. Retailers are free to sell through the current inventory they have and future inventory will be the new stock.

Awesome! I love this place (and the nice fellow blu ray members that you are), so nice and easy to find this info and send it in quickly. I'm gonna mail mine tomorrow!

So they don't pay for return shipping? How many stamps do I put on this thing lol?

If I send it with one stamp do they just keep the disc, wtf?
