I happened to go to Target and they had two copies of "Gladiator" one did not have the "2 Disc Set" on it, so I snatched it up. Paid $30 more then I have ever paid, but I sure hope it is worth it. Will watch it tonight and give my opinion tomorrow.

Wow, $30?

Is anyone still glad they waited?

Personally I got the original Gladiator Blu-ray for about $15 from Columbia House in Canada and watched it a couple of times and now that there is a better version I'll get it for $2.50 more. I'm not sure what anyone who held out really gained over those who bought the original version.

I stopped by my local BB on my way home. They had 4 remastered and no originals sitting on the shelf. I just opened up the package and saw that the discs have the darker gray pressing on them. Can't wait to see what it looks like!!!

As I noted earlier in this thread. I paid $9.99 for Gladiator after the $10 mail in rebate back in September of 2009 when it was released. Now, I am getting the remastered disc any day now for less than $1.80 in shipping. So I will have spent $11.80 on Gladiator on BD in total. BTW $30 is outrageous for any release unless it comes in a massive collector's box like Gone with the Wind or The Wizard of Oz.

Went into my local best buy today and was able to swap my old Gladiator BD for the new re-master , saw that they had the new one's w/o the "2-disc" labeling and had no problems. - looking forward to popping it in to see the treatment this film deserves...

really didn't want to have to deal with universal's exchange program/delay

One of my local Walmarts had three copies of Gladiator and luckily for me, two of them were the remastered one. I can verify that the remastered does NOT have '2-Disc Set' on the lower right back of the actual case.

Can you give more details? Such as:

How long ago did you buy the original?
Did you have your receipt?
Did they know anything about the remaster or did you have to explain it to them (and hope they believed you)?

I can't find my receipt anywhere, but I'm 99% sure it would show up on my reward zone history and I'd much rather exchange in store than through the mail.

I sent my email to Paramount on July 28 with all my information. How long does it take for them to reply with return instructions?

I wrote down my NA number when I mailed in my original disc; it indeed was NA13081B1R1. Obviously, I can't confirm the remastered disc till I get it.

This also confirms what I told one hardhead several pages back who insisted the different P.O. boxes were for people with different UPC and/or NA codes: The ONLY reason the 888 number asked those questions was to verify that you had the original version of Gladiator (i.e., white UPC *and* code NA13081B1R1) before giving you the instructions. (If you said the UPC was yellow *OR* gave them the other NA code, they'd just say "you already have the new version; no exchange for you.") There is only *ONE* P.O. box (801464); the others are from low-paid CSRs misreading their scripts.

Does it mean that the remastered version only has 1 disc or it is just to differentiate them and it does indeed have 2 discs?

When Exchange Programs send the new blu-ray back, how do they usually pack the single disc that we receive? In a CD case? Blu-ray case? flimsy plastic case?

I am going to pick up the new Gladiator disc eventhough I wasn't a huge fan of the film nor did I own the first one. I feel that Paramount deserves to be rewarded for listening to the fans and replacing those who bought the first edition.
